I keep saying that a decent season for us would be 8th or 9th an ok season -- my prediction last summer.

Get rid of the deadwood and finish building the squad.

Next season go for top 6 then 4th.

This season hasnt even finished yet though.
To be fair, you've given 'answers' but they're not really fully answering the original questions hence the whole skirting around the topic concept...

For example, the season not being over or not is arguably irrelevant to the questions at hand as they're hypothetical not answered in hindsight.

To make it easier, I'll give a pro-forma that you may wish to follow. @davek you may want to contribute as well.

What happens if we lose in the semi-final?:

What do you define as a poor season?:

What would it take for you to agree Martinez should be sacked?:

Why are you trying to put words in my mouth?

I didnt say anything like that at all.

Dearie me.

Erm yes you and your ilk have been saying this for a while now. "Don't worry if we finish 16th lads as we are in a semi final" absolute rubbish we should be doing well in both competitions.

Sick of some fans happy with us peeing away the best squad we have had since the 80's. Being the transfer biatches of powerhouses Stoke and west ham, being laughed at by the kopites, losing some of the best young talent in world football in the summer but oh well martinez keep selling that snake oil lad.

I don't think there is any harm in banners but I think the most effective protest is feet on the street outside the ground at 4.45pm.

At Aberdeen we don't have a vocal support, fergie once said he knew when we are pis$ed off because he could hear the sweetie wrappers rustle but by god we can take to the street. There's no ignoring it when you have to leave the ground. We had one manager leave in the boot of a car.

Say what you want about the Kopites but their fans don't tolerate crap managers for 1/10th the time we do.

That said, I'd wait until after the Cup. Once that's over, even if we win it, I'm all for Martinez out banners. Let the media pick up on the discontent we're feeling for once. I'm sick of mediocrity being the status quo at Everton.

Waiting with baited breath to see answers to your perfectly reasonable questions.

Im sure @davek wouldnt be opposed to a change in manager if he felt we were not developing. Id say if we have a poor season up to xmas next year or something like that then he will be jettissoned.

Quite right he was quoted as saying the same last year.

But seriously. Aside from you ignoring the past 2 seasons why would you give him another one.

We're not developing. The lists of players we need that you like to do are going to have to get a lot longer.

Lukaku and stones want to leave and Barkley is starting to be linked with other clubs.

Of the players he's brought in Lukaku is the only one who's really developed and even I knew he had potential.

The rest don't look any better than what we paid for them.

What happens if we lose in the semi-final?

Totally depends. If I see a team on the pitch desperate to win and competing in every way with one of two very good teams we're likely to play, then I'll be gutted but it'll indicate little other than the ups and downs of cup football. I'll probably see two semi finals as a better outcome to a season than going out tamely early on and if they've looked as good as West Ham or Man u but lose I'll see that as an improvement on Moyes.

What do you define as a poor season?

One where the standard of football is bad, the games we win are more about attrition than quality, I see little quality there to develop and I see little fight or belief

What would it take for you to agree Martinez should be sacked?

A clear consistent argument that he's causing more harm than good. He inherited an aging squad that lacked in depth quality and wasn't comfortable in possession. I'd want to know we had guaranteed the arrival of someone who continued to address these things and had some positives on top that Martinez doesn't possess.

Ha Ha Ha Ha.

The Geordiefication continues apace. Midtable and one hand on the cup and it's....

"Ahhh! Der meeja isn't listening to uz...no one sees der torture we 'ave to purrup wid lad. It's not fair lad. We berra get der bedsheets out and rite stuff on it lad. Weev got Moshiris billyunz to spend now lad. We want Maureenyo in.".

lollollollollollollollollollollollollollol one hand on the cup get a grip... funnily enough someone made a similar statement against city after being 2-1 up.

180 minutes to win the cup mate... we are far from even looking at it let alone having one hand on it.

WHU united which we would have won with 10 men but for a penalty muss and 2 individual errors from Mori

OR

Arsenal game which involved one individual error

OR yesterdays games individual error?

Didjt realise we were favourites to beat arsenal or Utd myself....

Errors that Funes Mori made after being put under increased pressure due to the change that Martinez made. We were 2-0 up and he went 4-3-2 with 10 men. It was suicide. We had them beaten because we were keeping width in our play, not allowing them to spread our back four out. He then take off a winger, who was probably our best player, but had admittedly been run off his feet and had very little left, and brought on a striker whos experience of the prem was I think at that point, absolute zero. That allowed Payet more space to operate and opened up our defence to more scrutiny. IMO what he should have done was, either bring on a defensive minded player to support and protect the back four, or a wide player to continue in the vein of what Lennon had been doing. Certainly not bring on a player who was struggling for fitness at your own admission and expect him to lift and support the tiring players already on the pitch. A more experienced player would have been a much better choice there.

A very well written response to the questions, thanks for sharing. Personally while I agree with a lot of what you said there is a lot more unsaid.

We are better in possession but often it's without purpose or when we try and mix it up and get the ball forward quickly we are fairly inept - look at some of the distribution yesterday for example. If the players are being coached on technique then that's fine but surely that should include how to focus, taking time on the ball, choose the right option and execute it.

The cup runs are undoubtably better than limping out on earlier rounds but I find it hard to say it's an improvement on Moyes when he consistently delivered good league positions at the same time for most of his time here.

Just my opinion.

I'm surprised that the support hasn't been more vocal in its frustration at what we are seeing week in, week out with a talented squad. Martinez can count himself lucky the media and vast majority of matchday fans haven't questioned his credentials. But it seems enough is enough. The RS turned on Rodgers and he nearly won them the league. 18 months later he was gone. They don't accept mediocrity on the pitch, so why should we be different?

I would wait until the conclusion of the FA Cup campaign before condoning banners.

After that it's fair cop. We've been rubbish for close to 2 full seasons.
