Its called common sense and realism.
Common sense and realism?

So let me get this straight, in the last 7 seasons before Martinez's arrival, we finished 5th twice, 6th twice, 7th twice, and 8th.

We then get a new manager in, acquire a striker who is thought of by many to be one of the best in the game, and then for some inexplicable reason we should now 'expect' a league position of 8th to 9th! EIGHTH....TO NINTH! Jesus wept.

It's cos the semi is such a big game as a club we need to be united. For many players it'll be their biggest club game of their careers. We already know there's a problem between players and fans (home record), and a few banners will not make the club fire Martinez before April 23rd.
So I just believe it's best for the club and us all not to widen cracks that are already there.
I can't see us winning the semi tbh, but who knows. A good win at Wembley and they may get the team confidence/chemistry/balls to play like professionals again.
Also, who's the alternative at this very moment? Dunc and Phil Nev? Royle? All short term and we'd need to try sort another change in the summer.
For me that's too chaotic.

Winning one game isn't going change the confidence etc when it hasn't all season mate. I don't know the alternative for when we sack him, but it has to be a damn lot better than we are seeing!just because we are at Wembley shoudnt mean we can't sack him, a few banners won't by April 23rd your right but it will go a hell of a way to surely make the board act sooner than later. This is Everton football and this isn't good enough sorry but Martinez CANT cut it.

We're agreeing overall, only question is of the timing and the how mate.
Who knows we may well end up winning it!

What difference does it make really apart from a bit extra money that shouldnt effect us as fans anyway.

I didnt celebrate coming 5th.

As for the topic of the thread, a banner would be pathetic. Its not very Everton and we are going to Wembley soon with a chance of winning the cup. Lets see it play out first and look at it in the summer.

We havnt been "good enough" for thirty years.

After our fate is sealed in the cup do whatever it is you all think will make your feelings best known.

But for gods sake, whatever you think the manager is doing wrong it, it will ONLY be compounded by something like this.

It would be the mother of all shooting ourselves in the foot. The players WILL be affected.

What gets me is that we are led to believe we play the best football we've played in 30 years. Have a squad capable of champions league. Best striker since Linekar. Yet two bottom half finishes is perfectly ok. Its just realism.

The defence some are putting up for Martinez is as baffling as the crap the man himself spouts on a weekly basis.

It's not very Everton???

What does that even mean?? Should we all take cushions the game and launch them on the pitch, is that more Everton?

And FYI a bit of extra money plus it's more appealing to players as it it actually looks like with a couple if additions you may challenge fir top 4. But no, let's be happy in 14th or 15th.....In fact let's finish 1 place above the relegation zone eh??

Is your first point honest to god serious?
Would have thought it was blindingly obvious, but the difference is that if you're consistently around 5th/6th, there's a much higher chance that at some point you'll exceed that performance level and crack the top 4. What happens if we marginally exceed our performance level now? Oooooh, we might finish top half!!

Or even on a MORE obvious level, it means the 30 odd thousand people that go to Goodison every week and pay a fortune for the privilege get to... Guess what.... See us win more games!!

And as for a banner being "not very Everton"

You're actually right there. Heaven forbid we give the appearance of being a fanbase who won't sit there idly being spoon fed football and results that we (rightly) don't believe are good enough.

Presumably because we look SO capable of beating Utd or West Ham at the moment, right?
