It's odd. The media seem to love him cause he's really charismatic, but at the same time, they still hate Everton. At least we're getting some more coverage thanks to him.
The difference is Moyes was never an Evertonian and was ready to leave as soon as a slightly better offer came along. He all but begged for that Spurs job a couple years back.Yep. Not long before they start portraying us as "Martinez FC" as they did with Moyes, idiots.
If he brings us success, which I don't doubt he will, I couldn't care one bit.

I don't see Martinez leaving us unless a real giant of a club came in for him, Madrid or some such. Even if we don't have a lot of money, he likes having complete control, (which is why he turned Liverpool down) and he wouldn't get that at most clubs.
I think he was alluding to Moyes never using the term 'we' when talking about the club. A Utd fan I work with is already moaning about him doing the same at Old Trafford. He tends to distance himself from any passionate connection with the club he manages, which at many clubs is not necessarily a problem in todays game, but is very much part of how we roll. Martinez just needs to pick up the local lingo now, it only took Jan Molby 2 weeks ffs.I think this is a touch revisionist. Moyes was very much onside with the fans for the first three or four years at least

Yes, there was teh whole 'people's club' thing at the beginning, he did create a good us vs them mentality. But as others have said he never referred to EFC as us, he alienated EFC legends from the club, and he went out of his way to make it seem like the club was holding him back, and not the other way round. You can't really say that Moyes ever embraced Everton or Everton's history.I think this is a touch revisionist. Moyes was very much onside with the fans for the first three or four years at least
There are some journalists who seem to enjoy what Everton & Martinez are doing. Then there are the old skool sports hacks who churn out the same old lazy cliché filled crap over and over again - we're like an awkward gatecrasher that they would rather didn't break the mould. I still don't think we would be accepted even if we finished in the top four. It would simply be described as a blip before normal service resumes next season
