Blues boss has become a father for the first time.

The drama of his first Merseyside derby capped a momentous week for Roberto Martinez.

As well as preparing his side for what would be a rollercoaster afternoon at Goodison Park, the Blues boss also welcomed his firstborn child to the world.

Roberto became the proud father to a new baby daughter on Thursday evening and smiled when asked if the occassion had interfered with his day job!

He said: "No, that comes from my family - my father missed my birth and also my sister's because he was involved with football.

"I'm delighted. My wife is in a great condition. She was very brave. It's a girl and she's an Evertonian.

"I was at the birth but did very little!"
