Hang on a minute, based on the last 3 games in which we have again conceded in every single one and not won one either?

We're out of both cups in the first round and 3 points off the relegation zone, there is no silver lining to this abysmal season.
Recently it's been terrible- these results are just relief. I knew that we would lose to west Ham at Goodison- come
On admit it how good did Roms last minute equalizer feel. Against City, I was happy to get a point, but how we scored right after they did was amazing. His game, it took something out of nothing, but I'd take if we had won- also feel terrible missed the PK cause he really was our MOTM.

OK this is shaping up well.

Let's continue to polarise the entire forum into one of two distinct opposing sides so that way myself and other gobshites can exploit the ill feeling and hostility.

Get out of the middle you moderates, stop being BORING and either back Martinez as saviour of our soul or the manager who will relegate us.

Hashtag free speech.

I am a man who looks at results, not effort so for me it's a no - last summer I scored a new job and put in absolute bagloads of effort but the results didn't come. I was sacked after just 24 days.

Martinez is employed to get results - defeat to WBA and Palace must result in an immediate sacking. We cannot go into the "month of death" without winning at least one of the next two.

We just can't. The games are running out and although the last 3 games are an improvement there is no hint of the nightmare ending anytime soon.

Any employer who rids you after 24 days despite your best efforts either is a bellend or has confirmed doubts about your capability.

The owner of Leeds is the closest example I can think of in modern footie with a similar strategy and look where they are. Mind you they have history for it. How long did Brian Clough last with them?

I agree with the desperation of the results but performance wise it looks like the team is turning a corner, for that reason alone Martinez needs to be given the time. If we we're still producing Hull and Newcastle performances through out the month then I'd be anticipating a change before too long.

Suppose we will find out.

He clearly listened to the team and adjusted accordingly. The team, specifically Lukaku, have been noticeably more visible on the attack. He probably deserves a chance.

The squad has shown some heart in the last three fixtures as well. They're actually playing with a purpose finally, instead of just going through the motions.

Think we can all agree that West Brom is the biggest game of the season. Pretty sure we'll have said this about every game for the past month but this really is the biggest yet.

We need to see the same level of fight as the past three games but accompanied with three points this time. Anything less is simply not good enough with Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal on the horizon.

People saying west Brom a huge game - I don't agree - well it might be in the sense it could provoke bill to act. In reality a win would not be evidence of anything at all going forward - given our extended run of form, losing 4 or 5 straight after beating west Brom is as likely as anything else.

Last season wasnt a fluke so I reckon he's still the man. Moyes got a decade of half decent support and he is basically a Scottish tony pulis (won't get relegated won't win trophies). Roberto does me head in in interviews though.

The next two games should decide if he should stay - if we cannot not beat teams like West Brom and Palace, then we have no hope in finishing in the top half.

Robles made some good save, but we cannot keep a clean sheet. Jags and Stones look like a good team, but we need GK, LCB & LW to improve this team.

If Eto'o leaves as it is looking likely, this is another nail in the coffin for Martinez in IMO. I am starting to think more and more that his summer signings were about carefully thought out as the poor pre-season schedule.

This all from a man who we hear is meticulous in his preparations! It's starting to look more and more to me that he completely rested on his laurels of last season.

For me he is mis-managing the players. Barkley looks bewildered and lacking in ability. He played central midfield against QPR and had a decent game with Besic. Then Barry is back and Martinez reverts not to form, but to his favourites.

Atsu, complete waste of time, McGeady, ditto, Eto'o, what was the point in signing him? Alcaraz, Kone and Robles until last night have been disasters.

I am wondering if the players are losing confidence in his judgement. Why did he not replace a tiring Naismith with Kone last night for a little bit more energy in extra time? Low and behold, which player misses his spot kick?

Yes they put in a shift when we were down to 10 men and backs were against the wall, most sides do.

I can accept a bad season, but he is starting to look a bit shaky to me, out of both cups in January and in a relegation fight! hmmm

It's huge for the club, simple as. You're right that it would not be indicative of a change in fortune, not off the back of a single result. But the fact is, WBA have a new manager, are in trouble too and need a win, and so do we. Any talk of if its a revival or not will be secondary to just securing the points.

Last season wasn't a fluke, but last season was the perfect amalgam of Moyestinez. The Moyes attitude has now dissipated, and we are seeing RM's true colours.

The last 3 games have been better but one win in 12 games in all competitions is shameful with the squad we have.
The west brom game is massive and a must win

Next two league games coming up are massive, we're in a real dogfight if we don't get at least 4 points from them. If we don't, it could, and should be curtains for him.
