Cmoon..our fixture is relatively "easy" when comparing to others

What does that matter when, on form, we're looking to pick up about 5 points from that run in. We couldn't beat the worst team in the league a few weeks ago.

The one thing sides below us have that we don't is fight. We have the quality, but not using it and look nowhere near being able to use it. The bottom few teams can pull off shocks with pure doggedness, whereas I could easily see us losing pretty much every game from here on in if we play with the attitude we did at Stoke.

We are, right now, the easiest team to play in the league.

I would settle for looking like we could beat Newcastle whether we do it or not.
We need to either get back to the mentality we had against West Ham or play like we do in Europe.
Too many players not standing up to be counted.
The players are not being managed.
Can you imagine at the start of the season we would be in a relegation fight?

This is what's annoying me about this team.. If you're in a slump, things arent coming off, at least work haRd. They're not putting in a concerted effort over 90 min, & I think that's deeply worrying.

We've got a break of seven days to take stock. Then we start another crucial run of matches.

We've just played five matches in fourteen days. We've been successful in the Europa League, but picked up just a single point in the Premier League. What can lie behind these completely opposite performances?

Most fans wanted us to give priority to the EL. We played strong teams in both legs against Young Boys and romped home, with displays reminiscent of last season. We've played strong teams in the league too, but found it hard it to compete with PL opponents. The players looked physically and mentally exhausted when goals went in against them at Arsenal and Stoke.

I think that the expectation of succeeding in two competitions has proved too much for our resources. Martinez has felt unable to rotate his team sufficiently to offer the players any rest. Several players came back from the World Cup without a summer break. And then they face international games on top of the domestic and European programmes. We've had injuries too. It's all been too much for them.

It's ridiculous to say that Martinez can't manage. He showed that he could last season. Did he tell the players to go out and attack last season? Has he changed his instructions to forget attack this season, just keep possession? I don't think so. He has had choices, and his decisions haven't always agreed with the opinion of the fans - but they never do. I'm sure that he has made mistakes - but I don't think they have been crucial. But it's very unusual for a club to succeed in the Europa League and Premier League with a programme of Thursday/Sunday games. Chelsea were the exception, but they obviously did have the resources to succeed.

Our Premier League form is shocking. But the form of the teams below us is no better. Relegation is not yet a great threat. But does Martinez have the power to revive the players? I don't know. He must be living on his nerves - perhaps he is as exhausted as they are.

Now we face a run of four games in eleven days;
Thurs Kiev home
Sun Newcastle home
Thurs Kiev away
Sun QPR away

Do you want to continue in the Europa League? Should we field a team of reserves? Should we save the first team for the games against Newcastle and QPR? Fans clearly wanted to field the strongest team possible against Young Boys, despite the difficulties we were facing in the Premier League. I wonder if their priorities have changed.

I'd actually go for all four games full gas.

They ALL mean something now. It's not a matter of playing players to exhaustion, but using the squad wisely.

We have Robles to come back in and Baines soon. Osman is getting near full fitness and we have the likes of Atsu and McGeady to come in again.

It's about playing with pace and intensity - the core 18 or so personnel for me are much of a muchness anyway. The only crucial players are Stones and McCarthy and Lukaku. They need to play in them all, but the others are interchangeable.

He's got 2 games looming that could either make or break his Everton career.

Two convincing wins and the World might look a different place, but 2 defeats and he'll be gone on the Monday.

So if he doesn't manage to get us
relegated this season you will give him another shot at it next season?
We're not getting relegated so yes.

What is this vision?

I refer you to an earlier post:

He's been very clear about his plan since the start of his tenure mate.

Go back and read his early interviews and listen to the podcast of his meeting with the various fan groups/sites.

Whether he will be able to deliver is another thing but I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet.

They're not allowed to, that's the point. They're stuck in Martinez's rigid possession based philosophy, with a slow tempo building from the back.

That's why people are calling for him to go, as he's by far and away the biggest barrier to us performing well right now. I'd have thought he'd have realised what was going on and adjusted, like Rodgers did with Liverpool annoyingly, but he's so painfully limited as a manager that he has a one track mind and, regardless of whether it's working or not, he's going to do the same thing over and over and over again.

There's a £28m striker there just screaming to be played with two wingers and an attacking midfielder behind him, with the wingers supplying and providing protection for the full backs bombing on, playing more direct football. The pace excuse has gone now as we have Mirallas and Lennon, and Atsu is no slouch. But he's playing three defensive midfielders to sure up the back while we pass it sideways across defence!

It's like he's doing it on purpose to annoy people. With Moyes, he was tactically limited and didn't make the big calls in the big games, but he always knew how to adjust in a slump to make sure we didn't go anywhere near danger. Martinez has absolutely none of that ability.

Does the Catalan clown (love you really Bobby) not see how hard Barça work without possession. Relentless. But also they can all actually pass a ball under pressure :(

Personally I think we need to ride the season out, I can't see the sense in getting rid at this point tbh. After the season get a decent break and, crucially, a proper pre-season under our belts. Get a chance to shake off this crisis of confidence, then hopefully come back firing.

Should things still be as bad after a 2-3 months of the new season, I think that might be a more sensible time to replace the manager.
