Really hope he becomes our "Arsene Wenger", and after listening to his interview I genuinely believe its possible. Forget what the media says Everton has the potential to become a bigger club than it already is.

Look at united before their dominance, 7? titles. Arsenal 10 titles before Wenger.

Great things can be achieved here.

Yeah, good read but why is it that when ever we get a decent new player, or as in this instance, a good new manager, journo's, pundits and people alike think were just a stepping stone for them?!

It's been a brilliant first 7 months of his time here so far but let the bloke get his feet under the table and really get his methods and ideas drilled into the side and see what he's achieved after 3, 4 even 5 years and then maybe talk about him moving on to better things depending on what he's achieved?!! Jeeeez.

Hard not to see this kind of article as trolling as it makes little effort to really understand what's happening at Everton, instead poking at a few sores that they know will wind people up.

Not arsed reading it as it will go something like '...bla bla bla plucky little Everton doing well under Martinez. Surely the big guns will come knocking soon etc..'

Heck of an article as much as it praises Roberto it damns our EX.

Of interest are the comments at the end of the article, the postees are from all over the world, so is Everton beginng to garner foreign interest more tha it had before?

It's like the recent Barkley stuff: as an unknown youngster he's Everton's Ross Barkley. Has a wonder season and we're dropped like a hot brick and he becomes England's Ross Barkley.

I like the first line of the article though - "When Dave Whelan starts talking, people stop listening."

Totally know what you mean mate. Under Martinez now I do feel were in the same predicament Arsenal were back when they appointed Wenger. They had Graham then Rioch and wasn't a team full of stars and they were well drilled and organised, had a great defence and then the odd good player elsewhere and then Wenger came in and changed pretty much everything from diets to the way they play and I can see similarities with us.

He started bringing in these unknown foreigners like Vieira, Petit, Overmars, Anelka, Boa Morte, Grimandi, Manninger, Wreh, Vivas, Ljungberg, Sylvinho, Luzhny and then obviously the likes of Suker, Henry, Pires, Lauren, van Bronckhorst, Wiltord, Bergkamp was already there and over the years he turned Arsenal into a force!.

Obviously the diets and things are in place these days at every club and cos of finances we wouldn't be so quick to bring such quality in but im talking more about our philosophy and methods of play. For most of Moyes's 11 years we were a well drilled, organised and hard team to beat. We didn't have a definite style of play, most weeks we was up and at em and direct, but don't get me wrong, at times we could play, but I think you'll get where im coming from.

Now under Martinez, he's come in and not taken that well drilled, organisation away but put his stamp on the side, got us playing a totally different brand of football and it never differs from game to game, weve got an identity now, were a good footballing side and we'll give anyone at anywhere a good game!.

He's not afraid to dip into the loan market and sign really good, up and coming youngsters to help us out to get to where we want to be, he sees the bigger picture. So what if we only have em for a season or 2, if they help us get to the CL and that brings the finances that it does, who's to say we cant end up signing em, or with those finances we cant progress and become better and better still, become title contenders? Title contendors is a real long shot, but CL under Martinez, with the way where going and playing? Year by year, IF he keeps on adding the right quality, it is definitely possible and there's exciting times ahead for us Evertonians IMO.

I haven't been this excited about Everton in a long time, Martinez with his beliefs and methods have given us a new lease of life and we can only get better, just like Arsenal did with Wenger. There's always cicles in football, periods where certain clubs have success and I'd love it if ours was on the horizon again! Optimistic I know, But the new manager, with how he is, his demeanour and how he's got us going again, as got me believing we can be as successful as we once was again.

Edit:- Haha ive read it through and that last line I have got a bit ahead of myself but like Bobby says, if you haven't got a dream then you've got nothing to aim for! :D

Good post
I just hope Martinez is better then Moyes in the transfer window, Moyes was excellent at this but i want Martinez on the same level as Wenger if you want Martinez to become our wenger.

Yeah, more often than not, Moyesy had a good eye for a player. But I just hope now, that we can do well with Martinez and he puts us on the map.

I hope players start to hear about us being a good, footballing side that challenges near the top of the league and will fancy coming to us in the future.
