I think this is a clever move ahead of our clash at Turf Moor on Saturday. It’s our club saying to Burnley, ha we took him off you as a player and now we’re taking him off you as a Professional development officer.
We are the big swinging dicks . Very clever psychology by our board
Let's just hope he is more useful than Keane?

I’d like to cast our recruitment net a bit further than former players constantly, especially former players who are well into the national retirement age.

Tell you what, while you're at it, why not get rid of all posters on here who are past retirement age, whether they do a full days work or not, lets just cut 'em off at 65. A lot of the time, you know, having considerable experience is far more important than having all your own hair and teeth. Youre talking complete b******s and not for the first time.

Calm it down, fella. Not exactly a like-for-like comparison comparing a discussion forum to someone being employed by the club, is it?

On the flip side of what you’re saying, having ‘considerable experience’ can leave that person stuck in their ways, as we are seeing with our dinosaur of a manager.

Thanks for the outburst, though.

I think you'll find that Martin Dobson has just the right qualities for the job despite being 'past retirement age'.In fact his age is an advantage in the context of the job, just as Joe Royles age and experience was appropriate.Hows your diet going?;)

Are you suggesting Joe Royle has been successful in that role? Struggling to see any professional development in this squad. Genuinely wouldn’t be arsed if we lost any of them and that’s the opinion of a number of fans. You seem like the type of fan that thinks every former player deserves some kind of role in the club.

What diet is that?

We've had a pretty successful youth and under 23 squad for a while ,that's the common concensus. Even Koeman proted more youth than any other manager in the Prem at that time. You're being silly in suggesting that I think every former player deserves a role at the club, but then you know that. There is no harm, however, in employing an ex Everton player if he satisfies the job criteria, whether in an important role like Royle/Dobson or as a tour guide.'Knowing Everton' is certainly a plus on anyones cv if they are applying to GP.
