A real shame.

When I was young, you only got very limited highlights of English games on Scottish TV.

Anytime I saw Martin Chivers on telly, he looked like he was some player. Big, strong, skillful, and he scored goals.

I saw him give a very intense interview on The Big Match Revisited a few months ago. The intensity was almost scary, especially as the great Brian Moore was pushing a line of questioning that was designed to rattle him a little. It would have been 1975, I think.

Really fine player, great presence, superb scoring record. Another one who was scapegoated for the Poland elimination even if, as it turned out, they were put out by one of the best three sides in the world.
