Marriner

The one for me was Barkley...
It proved he was hell bent on booking him and thus had an agenda the whole game.
The kung fu kicks are harder to produce correct course of action because of pressure from crowd and speed of them.

probably because of the RS infested media to make a mass out of his dive the other day. since then sterling and gerrard have made woeful attempts at dives and the media has failed to bring it up. all english like, different sides of the park.

you know what is nailed on, barkley is going to get fouled in the pen area at some point this season and the penalty won't be given based on that one dive he did. fair enough you would say because how can you trust a cheat, but every player in the league is a cheat and they still get decisions.

aguero and barkley have been booked in the last few days for being fouled. yet i have seen about 30 incidents this season alone where a player has dived, the ref has waved play on, but never actually booked the player.

what is going on in this sport? seriously?

I don't think he booked the one for the kick to the back of Eto'o.

If not the FA can investigate

But I doubt he'll get away with it anyway. It was that bad even Sky labelled it 'soft'
he gave a yellow for it. well the commentators said he did, but i didn't see him produce yellow.

martinez saw them both in real time i think, well he brought them up straight away. especially the barry one. if i was in his shoes i'd have walked on the pitch and nutted him when he produced the yellow - it was unbelievable. the worst thing is, i'm sure he reached into his back pocket to get the yellow. did he genuinely come to the match with a yellow card in each pocket?

at the end of the day, i've never seen a nasty everton. we've always been labelled as a bit dirty and the stats don't really stack up well, but i've never seen us be a nasty team. we need to bully and harass referees the same the rest of the top 7 do. they get flustered because they're all spineless human beings. if they weren't they would be giving out 6 or 7 reds every game.

they should have more self-respect than to let footballers shout abuse at them all game long. but they're not. and we need to take advantage. our players are too nice, they stay on their feet at times, especially in the box when they could easily go down (coleman is a great example of this), but nice guys finish last. we need to get into their face and harass them.

sad the game has come to this, but it's been like this for over a decade now and we always seem to be on the wrong end of decisions in games like this.

as some have pointed out, 3 seasons in a row we've been to the etihad and left bemoaning a crap referee decision to hand them a penalty, each time costing us points.

The harassment of officials by some has always been there, but those across the park took it to another level towards the end of Shankleys time and then under Paisley... and the Manure of Fergie and Chelski in recent years have took it to even lower depths.
At times we are too nice, but I'm not sure I really want to see us whining like stick pigs every game.

it's one of those where it's either a yellow or nothing though?

if it's accidental, you say, it was accidental, a free kick, but no more. or you determine it was on purpose in which case it's red.

:s

nor do i mate. it's disgusting. it's people trying to do a tough job at the end of the day, they're bound to make mistakes on split second decisions.

but we've won nothing in my time of following everton and we've lost a hell of a lot of derbies based on refs bottling it due to their harrasment rather than them ever actually being better than us.

i had my yank stream. they were in utter disbelief, they couldn't believe it. it was jim beglin on commentary as well calling it this way.

It was a pen yesterday, Jagielka didn't need to tackle him so it was his fault.

He got the Barkley one wrong and the high footed tackles on Barry and Eto'o both could have been reds.

Can't blame the ref yesterday though, we weren't clinical enough. Again.

There is a time to blame the ref, and there is a time to take it on the chin.

He made a questionable, but right call on the Pen - it was a Penalty, he missed the opportunity to send off Yaya when he nearly broke Samuel in half, the Barkley booking was a shocker.

We played poorly, and this will look like we're using the crap ref to justify it, it didn't help - but we got exactly what we deserved from that game yestarday.

Two obvious points....as a team we were poor and didn't deserve 3 points, and as a referee Marriner was abysmal bordering on bent.
That aside City were no better, and as a consequence I think the refereeing blunders had more effect on the result than our inept display. Having both on the same night was not helpful. Any other given game this season if those 'decisions' had gone with us rather than against us and we would have taken something from the game.
