Marriner

Milner pushes the ball past Jags and Jags brushes his leg and Milner goes over. Barry was blocking Marriner's view so he didn't have a clear view of who actually touched the ball or whether Jags made contact or not.

Barkley pushes the ball past Lampard and Lampard brushes his leg and Barkley goes over. No one was blocking his view and he decided that Barkley had dived.

If he had a clear view of the Milner/Jags incident then he should have booked Milner. Because the two incidents were exactly the same.

But he never had a clear view and to give a pen the ref has to be absolutely certain something FIFA ref Marriner didn't have. Not surprised really that FIFA ref Marriner sided with the international City brigade at City like he does with Chelsea, Arsenal, United and LFC.

Marriner, like the other FIFA refs Clattenburg, Atkinson, Oliver, Probert and Taylor, constantly give decisions in favour of those that play in the Champions League and want to be seen to be 'good refs' in the eyes of international players. The last thing they want, is someone going back to their international games, and if the English FIFA refs are reffing their games they start slagging them off.

i don't understand people using our poor performance as an excuse. they're totally seperate incidents. the game ended 1-0 with a goal given that shouldn't have been.

not to mention the red card(s). they were shocking tackles that no doubt would still be talked about in 3 weeks time if our players did and then we went on to win the game. will be brushed under the carpet, as i think they already have been

Never a pen, Mangala should have been off for his assault on Eto'o, Fernandinho could have gone for kicking Barry in the head at full stretch.

Then he also gave fouls against Lukaku, Barry and Besic that never were and booked Barkley for 'diving' when it was a virtually identical challenge to the pen.

Clueless.
This 100 %

Duncan went to jail for less than what happened today.

He even ran out of that white spray stuff and the city wall was never ten yards away from Mirallis free kick - only after the free kick he ran for a new aerosol which sums him up as one!

He wasn't the reason we lost, but he was terrible.

I'd agree he was terrible, but I disagree that he wasn't the reason we lost. We didn't deserve to win, we didn't threaten nearly enough to come away with all the points, but then again neither did City, without the penalty they didn't make Howard work other than on one occasion that I can think of. A draw would have been about the right result, but Marriner was awful, I'm having real trouble remembering such a shocking display from a ref, he was inconsistent throughout the game and it was seemingly always to our detriment.

Not going to try and say the ref stole the game for Man C. as we didn't do the job properly.
BUT, what about ensuring player safety? and when cleats first tackles are that high why is there any question that the card is not red?

Daftest thing today was that he forgot his disappearing spray too.

City stole two yards because of that on a free-kick Mirallas took. After the free kick he had to jog off to the sidelines to get it. At that point you knew that even if we scored it'd be ruled out for something.
