Marriner

I notice there was nothing mentioned from the F.A. about his performance so he won,t be getting hung. Not until he visits Goodison again

Hardly fair on League 1 clubs they have ref like Marriner lumped on them. Who's it punishing? Performance management doesn't exist in refereeing, even if they have an 'assessor' there each week.

i remember when i use to watch swansea in the 3rd/4th divisions. whenever a prem ref would have a horror game, they always seem to end up at the vetch field the next week. and they always continued to stink the place out. this was about a decade ago now, but still. it does make me wonder if the refs "picked" for the prem are actually the best, or whether there's more to it.

best ref in the english league ever - harmeet singh i think his name was, that lad new how to play an advantage, he was great, should have refereed at a much higher level.

More chance of juggling soot... until it a Manu player gets kung-fooed like SuperSam did

I think if one of our players had gotten it into their head to take the law into their own hands and produced a similar challenge, the ref would not have thought twice about sending him off regardless of how hypocritical it would have seemed. All about the big-money teams.

Not that it does us any good now but at least a decent newspaper has brought up the subject:

Now if only the FA would do something about it!

Haha, waits for this weekend when a player gets sent off for a bad tackle and someone writes an article (and thousands moan on forums) that you're not allowed to tackle anymore.

And that the ref who sent him off is gash for doing so. Unlike this article who reckons the ref is gash for not sending them off.

One bad decision I can just about handle but the two red cards that should have been issued in our favour PLUS the very dodgy penalty they were awarded is what makes it so hard to stomach. That Marriner is either VERY corrupt or VERY incomptent or just a complete COWARD.

I am still seething/frustrated and losing sleep about this, as much for Roberto's lame reaction as anything, Mariner gets away with this without any great exposure because Roberto doesn't take one for the team by giving both barrels on T.V and press a la Fergie and taking a 10 grand fine, what's that to him.
Lol!! I thought I was the only one. I woke up early hours the other morning and it was the first thing on my mind. Couldn't go back to sleep for a while. I was fuming!!! Kept thinking of ways to make him pay! Even thought of the captain telling him that he was going to take his players off the pitch if he couldn't offer them protection!

And I presume that we still haven't lodged a complaint regarding his incompetence
You gain respect by not accepting low standards not by rolling over

"Multi million pound game. £stretcher refs."

Even Swansea's vice-chairman got involved here. We're a soft touch and just facilitate them sweeping it under the carpet. But don't worry, everything will be okay until the next "Clattenburg derby" or similar.
Granted, we were not at our best in this game but against 9 or 10 men, surely we would have gone on to win.

Mulit million pound players who make numerous mistakes a game.

Poundstretcher refs who make one mistake and are labelled crap, incompetent or biased (not just Marriner but all of them).

It's about the lack of accountability mate. They never have to come out and explained themselves. The fact that he issued yellow cards means that he DID see it, and that makes it worse because if you DID see it, then how could you NOT red card those players?!!!

The organisation that runs them are never seen to make an example of them. Sure, he'll ref in the Championship or League 1 for a game or two but after that, he'll be back and it will be as if nothing happened...as if the millions of people who witnessed it are mugs.

Shame on that W****R and his superiors!
