Clattenburg isn't a issue anymore, as refs go he is one of the better ones now. No issues with him at all yesterday, we won 2 0 and he had no part to play in any incidents, which is how it should be with a ref.

Time to worry about the ref is when you are struggling, our football puts us beyond all that

No. Do not forget his numerous atrocious decisions and the points they have cost us. Just because he gave us one penalty does not mean he has turned over a new leaf and is now a good, fair referee. The second we let our guard down he's going to screw us over again. He must be kept on his toes at all times, wary of making one of his "mistakes" against us.

don't think he's a bad ref, just think he is bent as hell - just seems like the snide who would take bungs and fix games. wouldn't be surprised to read about such things decades after his retirement.

Blatant throw in given the other way at one stage, and denied us at least one blatant penalty (the Smalling hand ball - arm extended beyond natural position and prevented opposition control of the ball) before having to give us the utterly obvious one or it would have been murderous in the ground.

Then he realised United didn't have a chance either way as they were so bad and couldn't do a thing to alter the game, such as give them a penalty, as no chance came his way.

It wasn't a good performance - it was just that we were so good as to prevent him from influencing the game.

Lukaku's hand was right next to the ball, when it hit Smallings arm, and only watching this video replay, you could see that - at bit hard to give that one.

Lukaku didn't handle it, Smalling did, so it makes zero difference where his hand was.

The penalty rules are quite simple - was the hand in an unnatural position? Yes. Did it prevent an opposition attacking movement? Yes. Could the player have reasonably avoided contact? Yes. Penalty all day.

Thought he was largely superb yesterday. Credit where it's due. I can only use what I saw from the street end to come to this conclusion though as I've not seen much of the game bar the goals.

The angle the ref would have saw it, he could not give it as he would not be 100% sure (it was like an inch away from Lukaku's hand) - ref only gets to see it once. If that was against us, I would not be happy as ref cannot be 100% sure it was.

But I agree it should have been a penalty for us, as it did not touch Lakuku hand (only Smallings arm).

That's fair, but he waved it on, so he acknowledged something occurred. Can understand human error of course, but with Clattenburg I'm always dubious.

In all honesty, I think Clattenburg is aware he's on the way up, looks set to overtake Webb as the FA's no.1 guy, the last thing he needs is a controversial game against us and his past coming back to the forefront. I won't forget the derby and I doubt he'll get another one, but in general, I don't worry about him reffing our games much at all at the moment.

controversial?....you missed the Liverpool v Man city game?...

He's a t**t plain and simple. He can give us 50 pens and send off 100 opposition players when refereeing our next 100 matches and he will still be a t**t. It took him 3 attempts to give us a handball in the first place and all you need to do is look at the RS v City game to know he has about as much skill being a referee as a 5 year old would have behind the wheel of a F1 car. He's a t**t, always has been and always will be.
