Mario Mandzukic

Mandzukic scored the same amount of goals in 2011-12 Bundesliga as Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery (12).

Mandzukic supplied 8 assists in 2011-12 Bundesliga, the same as United new boy Shinji Kagawa.

Only Robert Lewandowski averaged more shots per game than Mandzukic did in 2011-12 Bundesliga. Lewandowski averaged 3.5, Mandzukic 3.2.

Mandzukic averaged 3.5 aerial duels won per game during 2011-12 Bundesliga, third highest overall.

But yes, he has PL flop written all over him. If West Ham sign him, I'll eat my hat (spoiler: I don't have a hat). He's far too good for them.

The only real fault in Mandzukic's game I've noticed when watching him play is that he can't cross to save his life. This worries me considering Moyes' history of sticking creative players out on the wing.

Those are the sort of stats I like. If we could get him and Moyes could tame his attitude my concern would be that we'd have to adjust how we use Jelavic to accommodate him in the same way that Newcastle changed Ba's positioning to facillitate Cisse and that Nikica could actually become less effective for having a partner. There were hints of that with the national team.

If he did join us, the only position he could play in a team with Jelavic is the Cahill role. And if those aeriel duel stats are anything to go by, he'd suit that role perfectly. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Stoke made him their number 1 target this summer.

Moyes would learn the hard way (again) if he used Mandzukic as a winger.

I hate wingers out wide as much as the next guy, but its better than say, Osman, and least two strikers on the wings means three, at least, goalscorers.

This is one way of looking at it, I guess. It'd be up to Moyes to tell him not to put too many crosses in, though. He's really not good at crossing.
