Living in a foreign country can be a great developmental experience for anyone but especially when you are young. Even if the language and most of the customs are the same it can be quite eye-opening.

City see value in their purchase of Melbourne and that link up, probably in the expectation that the sport will gain in popularity and it is another market to recruit fans and players. This sounds a bit similar but without the expense.

I was watching the A-league the other morning and Wellington from New Zealand were playing in it! Think it was a couple of days after the Aussies won the Asian Cup. Anyway, back to being an Evertonian, it's too far, why are we trying something new, whinge whinge.

Very good catchment to get a first look at some raw talent. I know some of you can't see past the end of your schnozz though. Thats more of a worry.

About an hour north of sydney with football the dominant code.

I grew up on the coasts pitches and it was only after playing seniors the Mariners came into exsistence. Back then the coasts top team was the Coasties.

If I'd have that opportunity back then... I tell ya... I would have still ended up getting high back round the bleachers of Graham Park on a sunday who am i kidding.

We used to play cricket on there and laugh our heads off.

Probably a good way to increase profile in Australia. Could be a benefit to our commercial revenues.

Likely won't actually ship any merchandise there, however - Kitbag won't find it financially wise.

Barbs aside, we should do this with a lot of the emerging markets to gain a foothold in them rather than just happily let that revenue get slurped up by the usual crowd.

Would've thought this is a good idea. Probably only a matter of time before the aussies get things right football wise by which time we could hopefully have a foothold there.
