calm down lads i was just having a bit of fun. Don't know why everybody is ****ging off Lil Wayne because reading back through the thread nobody has actually said they're a fan.

I'm not a fan for the record.

That is some awfully good company you're putting Mac Miller into. I liked the k.i.d.s mix-tape and all but damn. I wasn't aware there was such venom about Wayne. He's not great but I didn't realize he made people so mad. In an unrelated note, how do people feel about Skrillex?

****ing brostep.

More in common with nu-metal jock-rock than dubstep. Where's the ****ing dub in his dubstep? Horrid midrange ****e with no groove. Terrible music for cretins.

Rap will always win against Metal, we all wanna be Rappers, but nobody wants to be a greasy rocker.

I don't wanna be a rapper. And I am a rocker. And you are the fat one, therefore more greasy, supposedly.

And way to pick a genre and a song from a band that make music in their basement for sh*ts and giggles and then compare it to Eminem's song, which is a well produced one from a great rapper. And Lil' Wayne's there too, for some reason.

Any Insane Clown Posse song

(Even though it is thrash, which is a sub-genre of heavy metal)

What should I listen to in the dubstep genre? I know nothing about it. Don't start me off with anything too crazy -- what's the most accessible good stuff?

Say what you will about those clowns but there aren't many musical entertainers who have made anything as entertaining as their miracles video.

What the **** are you talking about. Using grindcore as a 'classic' example of metal. Pfft. Poor propoganda.

Now, noobs. Listen to the chorus. Hooow long? On this longest day! Till we fineleee make it thrrrrrrruuuuuuuu?

Your best bet is to not listen to dubstep. It's proper, proper sh*te. Really though. Awful.

I've got to stick up for Dubstep a bit. It used to be great a few years ago, like from 2006 up until a year or two ago and I used to love going to events like Chibuku in Liverpool. Now Dubstep has changed almost beyond recognition and elements of it can be heard on pretty much every chart pop song now. There are still a few producers who I like and still listen to, but it's really a case of a Genre ruined.

Without meaning to sound like a bell end hipster, I liked it before it was cool.

These days it just sounds like you're at the barbers getting your head shaved.

Skrillex seems to have made it "accessible" by removing most of the original elements, putting in some horrible cheesy euphoric breakdowns and big drops and that stupid midrange wobble noise that sounds like a transformer being dry-bummed. It's got nothing to do with dub and has lost the two-step as well. I actually saw a t-shirt the other day that said on it "IF SKRILLEX IS YOUR GIRLFRIEND'S FAVOURITE DUBSTEP PRODUCER SHE'S TOO YOUNG FOR YOU".

I'll post some stuff when I get in from work that I think is good.

Shackleton, Digital Mystikz, Burial, Sines, Whistla, Zomby, Hessle Audio, Ramadanman and Appleblim all make nice music to these ears. All worth checking out. Not sure how much of it passes for dubstep these days, mind.

Thinking about your question, Burial would be a good place to start. Sounds like Massive Attack would if they made UK garage.

I will never understand dubstep. It's literally noise. Like literally. The DJ just seems to be pressing random buttons. As soon as it comes on in a club the atmosphere just turns horrible. I don't get it. Everyone loves it aswell.

There's skip-loads of bad dubstep being made these days. It was really exciting around 2005. The best stuff for me is headphone music for the night bus home, not rave music. Proper atmospheric and not all silly ****ing wobble. I'll post some mixes when I get home you might dig a bit more if you like.

I think the main point here is that people who diss heavy metal and stuff, and think everyone that likes it sits in the dark praying for a vampire apocolypse is either retarded, a chav, or a 14 year old chav. It's an absurdly wide genre of music. You probably havent even heard 1% yet your mouthing off as if Lil Wayne and Drake are the kings of music. **** off. You're probably also the kind of people that think David Guetta is No.1 DJ in the world. Anyway to sum up, it's not big or cool to diss a whole genre of music and stereotype all it's listeners anymore. Most of us have grown up. It's perfectly fine that it's not to your tastes, but that doesn't make everyone a 'cape wearing' nonce. And if they are, so what? Leave em alone. No one calls you up on your sergio tacchini trackies and neck tattoos.

You were saying Nik...
