Then why are Liverpool doing it? do they have a 'divine right' to be beating even more than the '12 or so' teams you've suggested that they actually have been??

Question mate - when is the next time you geniuely see them dropping points? City? :coffee:

Because they have far better players than us and a better manager.

Oh, and a few kind offside decisions.

Absolutely f'ing not.

If we seriously can't expect, as a football team, to be beating the sides in the bottom third of the table consistently, season after season, with any other outcome being seen as an unexpected 'freak' result happening once in a blue moon.. then where are we actually heading? how are we going to improve? how are we going to eventually hit top 4? how are we ever going to be considered a 'top' side again?

If we were at Spurs level then that would mean we’d still be losing some games that we “shouldn’t”, and therefore you still wouldn’t be happy judging by what you’re saying here. You’ve literally said numerous times that we shouldn’t be losing ANY games against the likes of Villa EVER.

I just don't know what you're trying to get at here to be honest.

If we beat the bottom 7 sides home and away without fail like you're seemingly suggesting we should then that gives us 42 points with another 24 games to come. Even with a massive drop off in the points we picked up, to relegation form of just one point per game that would give us 66 points for the season, the second highest total we've ever got in the Premier League era. Any normal drop off in form, say to 1.5 points per game, gives us 78 points and a place in the Champions League most seasons. What exactly makes you think that is something we SHOULD be doing? It's an aim, of course, but if you think it should be an expectation you're off your rocker.

Wow lot of traffic in this thread.
Comparisons to City & Liverpool now , thats very ambitious.

Klopp & Pep inherited vastly superior squads and didnt need total rebuilds either.

Pep 1st season ....won nothing ( including a 4-0 drubbing at Goodison , his biggest ever defeat btw)

Klopp 1st season ....finished 8th.

Dont get the point in the comparisons at this point.
If you all paid attention you were told its a 3/4 year project , so precisely 1 full season and 4 games in we are sitting 4/5th.

Pretty much on track all considering.

Just watched his questions answered thing, I actually really like the guy. He seems really passionate about his work. He doesn’t need to run up and down like a mutant to show it.

The effort he puts into training and games is night and day, if you compare him to bygone managers.

People would then moan that we can only beat the dross of the league and can’t compete against the good sides.
