2019/20 Marco Silva

I don’t think his position is as safe as some on here think.

My reasoning is that for a spell last season – between the derbies – we were shockingly bad. We then had that great run, during which we beat Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd. I don’t think he would have been sacked at the end of the season, without that run – but I do think he would have had a limited amount of games, this season, to show we had progressed.

The board may be looking at these first few games, with a “here we go again” mentality. Do they really want to sit through a below average season, with a really good run for a couple of months? Or do they want to see genuine consistent progress. This is where they may have taken lessons from last season, and a couple of big wins against a couple of big teams, isn’t good enough. They may act quickly this season, as maybe a season is enough for them to assess him, and come to the conclusion this season – at best - is going to be a repeat of last season. I can’t believe this is good enough.

He will be given a few more games but he will not be shown the same patience as last year.

We want big seasons – not just big days.

Can you see what he is trying to do though, how he's trying to play? Might just be me but I find it unclear. I think we're actually pretty patient as a fanbase, despite the epic fume, we can put up with a transitional period but we need to see some sort of progression or implementation of ideas.
Seems like he's coaching them too narrowly, classic case of plan A is not working, what is plan B? The players don't seem to have the confidence to play around his tactics.
I agree to a certain extent, the problem I have is we constantly go wide in our attacking play. And it doesn’t really work as we don’t have great forwards who score with their head. Like when Coleman hung a ball up to the back post for Bernard. Coleman got a lot of praise last week, but I’ve always thought he lacks quality. Caragher said on commentary that it was a safe cross and why didn’t he whip it in.

Digne is the only wide player who can really cross a ball and he had an off night., Bernard & Richarlison dont really stay wide and cross. Togo through the centre of the pitch we need better plays in midfield and attack. Gomes & Schneiderlin don’t work. Siggurdsson doesn’t offer enough from open play. Hopefully iwobi & Kean will change a few things. And sidbie at RB. Will offer better quality than Coleman which shouldn’t be hard.

He's Martinez Mark 2 without the charisma. I don't believe he is capable of motivating players when things start going wrong as they did last night. I just don't think he's fit to be the manager of Everton and he should be shown the door before we sleepwalk into anothé coupled of seasons of dross.

Still just sickened with that result. Get you act together, Silva. That was a disgraceful performance on the back of two very poor performances.

The biggest difference between villa and Everton yesterday was team spirit. Villa battled and supported each other. That what we need. We were the better team, dominated possession, had the better chances but we never had the look of any team spirit.
Villa on the other hand, celebrated every tackle, and good mover as a team. A lot of patting on back, well done and encouragement ect. They knew they were up and against it and pulled together.
To be honest the stadium were all behind them too - they were happy to be under the cosh, never got nervy (unlike Goodison). And having a local manager and team captain probably helps this too.
Silva needs to get this “togetherness” sorted more than anything

Too early for knee jerk reactions. It was one of those games. Newly promoted team looking for a win and we have injury problems in midfield.

However, he needs to sort things out in midfield and up top quickly or he’ll be under pressure.

4/5 points max out of:

Palace
Watford
Villa

After £200 million spent Diabolical manager who I still dont rate no matter how the try hards try push it on me that he's Mourinho MRKII.

If I could swear I would call him a kin poo bag for not playing Kean
Over the course of a season, with two of those games being away, that is probably what most teams that finish 7-9 from those fixtures

not quite clicking just yet, seems we have forgotten his methods over the summer, gonna be a slowish start, especially if we continue to be so toothless

Those substitutions killed us tonight, I have no idea what was going on in his head. Second half he should've swapped Kean for DCL and left it. He completely ripped the shape out of the team and created a weird, panicking clusterfuck.

Very disappointed
He does it every time we go behind especially away. He slings on as many forward as he can and tries to bypass the midfield. Hardly ever works.

To be fair he's had us playing absolutely dirge football since the start of pre season. Really can't be arsed with all the ups and downs, how hard is it to find some continuity from the end of last season. It's like we never build on anything

Bloody hell lads.

We have lost one match!

And we did have two absolute sitters and hit the post.

Hopefully Walcott and DCL will now be phased out as the squad gets up to speed.
