They're probably going. The club are probably just trying to be delicate about it given their histories at the club.

They're both on big wages and don't play. If they were going to be offered new deals then there'd be something being sorted out by now.
I hope you’re right.

Well they wouldnt be on big wages if given a new contract.

Going by your argument, we cant attract Neymar or Messi so may aswell never approach another striker and keep Tosun and DCL.

Thats how tedious the whole "who would you realistically have as manager" debate is as we dont know who we could attract and who we would actually go for.

The names you’ve reeled off as examples of “good” managers are so uninspiring it makes me feel ill though.

I took the part about McCarthy (and the others) passing on traditions to be a polite way of saying

Jagielka Baines McCarthy Coleman are all off.

That's an interesting interpretation. It's interesting McCarthy is lumped in with them, I really like him but most people wouldn't put him in with the others.

I probably agree Jags/Baines but I'd keep Coleman at least another season. I actually think defensively he has performed quite well this season (in fact very well in big games) but has lost something going the other way. His experience will help Richarlinson ahead of him.

Even McCarthy if he could be used I wouldn't be aversed to staying, particularly if Gana leaves, though I hope he goes.

If Moshiri was looking long term, what was the point of sacking Koeman? Did he feel like burning 20 million in compo for two management teams?

I agree that decision looks odder all the time re Koeman. Had we have known we'd be where we are now I suspect we'd have all kept Koeman until the end of his 3 year deal and moved him on.

That being said, the rumour has it that Koeman informed Moshiri he was unable to manage the squad any longer so we didn't have much of a choice.

I think we can get bogged down in how the situation was handled but what's clear to me was he was a very odd, and ultimately poor appointment to start with. We also didn't put the right processes in to begin with and went about it the wrong way.

It was telling when Silva said that if you just spend money you can't expect success. I feel that was what we did initially. The money needs to be spent, with a very specific MO and in a tactical manner that fits a broader plan. It's good Silva is on board with this.

For what it’s worth ,I understand Koeman was deliberately undermined by an influential backroom cabal, whose agenda was to install Unsworth.
