He should be aiming to beat one of: Arsenal, Chelsea or Man Utd at home.

It would be disgraceful if we go another season without beating one of these teams, when all the others around us have done it on more than one occasion this season.

I agree with this but Since he left we are still waiting for a new type of manager to progress fulfill our ambition. I don’t we will be seeing on in the foreseeable either.

Yeah, and Koeman, Allardyce were not 'new type managers'. A 'Silva-type' manager instead of Koeman would have been better in hindsight. Koeman was like a low-budget low class Mourinho hired gun. If our strategy is with players and managers to take a chance on people with ambition and potential, then immediately post-Martinez we should have done that.
Oh well. We live in hope.

Cruise ships heading in the wrong direction don’t turn around immediately. We had one of the poorest squads in the league and every aspect of the club was awful such as recruitment, player discipline, player fitness, connection with the fan base etc.

Although the league position is not good enough and the cup showings were awful there has been improvement in my view.

The recruitment in the summer window was very good. Yes we need a striker but no one can argue that the squad now isn’t immeasurably better than the one that started last season.

The away form has improved.

We’re getting less injuries (touch wood). We came into two derby games with near full strength teams to pick from and lo and behold we got two decent performances rather than previous seasons where we have been injury ravaged.

The derby performances have been better.

Players seem to be behind the manager. None were coming out in favour of Allardyce Koeman or Martinez towards the end.

The bond with the fans is slowly coming back. Schneiderlin got an ovation on Sunday FFS.

Calm heads seem to be prevailing on the football side. We seem to be pulling out of a downward spiral in a way that none of the previous managers post Moyes have managed.

This is only the third season since Moyes left that relegation hasn’t been even on the radar at any point (Martinez and Koeman first seasons the others)

At times we have matched top teams. Yes we’ve not created chances, yes we’ve not won, but we went to Old Trafford Anfield the Emirates Stamford Bridge and legitimately played football. Not just sit back 11 men behind the ball hanging on. We actually went and caused those teams problems imposing our play on them. We haven’t done that since Martinez’s first season.

Signs are there that we are moving in the right direction. Changing manager now would be absolute gross stupidity.
