I know you’re American, but imagine you lived here, and went to the game every week.
Would you be happy going to watch that every week?

I don’t go every week, but I’ve already had enough. I was due to go over this weekend just gone but couldn’t bring myself to. It just wasn’t worth it.

I just want to enjoy watching Everton again. And I don’t believe that Marco Silva can make that happen.

I’m not arsed about stats. At all. I have eyes. And I can see that we aren’t very good and play woeful football.

It’s not all his fault, the players are grim. But if he can’t deal with the players we have he’s not the right man for the job in my eyes.

I have teams here that I've attended games for and followed nearly religiously since I was a child. I don't pay to watch them if they aren't putting a product out that I like. I try to be reasonable when I look at the outlooks of the teams I follow. Everton's squad is still a mid-table squad. I think we all knew that at the start of the season, or should have known that.

Eyes can deceive. Easily. Give your eyes some context to help.

Silva not being able to put a mid-table squad in the top 6 in one season isn't a concern to me. People look at the turnaround from people like Mourinho to Conte, winning the league a year after they finished whatever position. Everton's squad is not nearly at that level to allow such a turnaround. When Everton add players like Hazard, Kante, D. Costa, Azpil, Higuain, etc, then I'll expect results faster.

I get being frustrated with the situation that Everton have put themselves in over the past 4-5 season, but there are no miracle cures.

One cure is to get rid of a manager who should never have been bought in.

Again, I've put up some defensive stats. Everton aren't at the bottom, but they're nowhere near the bottom at the moment. Defense is just fine.

I've tried searching for the numbers on set piece goals given up and have had no luck. Everton are high on the list, if not at the top, but by how far?

When you concede 3 goals at home to Wolves, our defence is clearly not “just fine”.

We’re not “high on the list” for set pieces leading to goals, we’re number 1.

Watford were second in the league for set piece goals conceded last season, letting 17 in.

Hull City led the way in the 2016-17 season, conceding a ridiculous 21 goals(!?) from set plays.

These are not trends which Silva is showing any sign of improving.

If Everton's aspirations are a glorified intramural trophy, then there are bigger issues at hand.

We have conceded 36 goals, the same as Arsenal and Brighton.

The only other teams to have conceded more than us:

Huddersfield
Fulham
Cardiff
Burnley
Southampton
Bournemouth
West Ham

So that's 7 teams, and 5 of them are the bottom 5.

And we have a run of very very tough games to come. I expect a succession of big defeats if we perform as we have lately. 9th is as false as 8th was last year.

Will he be pragmatic tomorrow? Try and be at least a bit more compact its our only chance, if he tries to go toe to toe as I expect. We are getting well thrashed. We will probably lose anyway but digging in and showing some fight would at least give us a shot of something look at Newcastle that's what they did. I just can't see us being solid or not committing too much and being picked off.

See Liverpool will have a game in hand, but they have gone from playing them to go 10 points clear to the possibility of being behind them tomorrow on goal difference, that's a big psycological blow

Indeed.

And if.....somehow...City contrive to drop points versus us that will give the RS a tremendous [Poor language removed] in the arm.

Imagine they are still top tomorrow night after our game.

With a home match against Bournemouth on Saturday, Chelsea next for City the day after.

Tomorrow night is crucial.

You throw out the Watford and Hull City stats like they affect this season's Everton stats. Sure, Everton gave up three to Wolves. Liverpool gave up three to Palace - the 5th lowest scoring team in the PL. Their defense must be crap. They gave up two to a team of farmers in the UCL! Citeh gave up three to Palace too! They must be crap on defense.

One off games don't prove a pattern.
