People compare to Martinez's first season. I think the early signs are even more encouraging. Its pretty well known Martinez inherited one of the league's best defences (only Arsenal, Chelsea and City conceded less in the season prior) and added goals.
Compared to last season, Silva and Brands have improved our defensive organisation, transformed our midfield into something very strong and created an attack which seriously threatens though needs some fine tweaking on finishing. The improvements in all areas of the pitch are more impressive than brown shoe's debut season for me.

Watching City last night and they make great decisions in the final 3rd that result in almost effortless goals.

We have missed chances through players not getting their heads up, shooting when a pass would result in a tap in. That understanding and fluidity should develop in time.

A bit unlucky?

We were robbed.

We should have put away our chances (Bernard’s in particular) and it was never a penalty, but I don’t think it was as good a performance as we put in against Chelsea and Liverpool, we looked a bit off the pace.

Still far stronger than anything for several years though!

That's what I mean....even though ever played better at Arsenal and the RS, we ere robbed with the penalty they got.

Plus they should have played the last twenty minutes or so with ten men after Smalling fouled a man to concede our penno.

We’ve definitely had some hard luck and we could have definitely had some more points against Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal away, but the performances have generally been encouraging.

Hopefully we’re looking at a work in progress which Brands and Silva will continue to develop. If we keep signing players of the calibre brought in by Brands, we’ll defo be up there fighting with the best teams.

Aye.

Don't think we did enough to win the game, like, but definitely deserved a point.

That's the thing. A point is the least we have deserved against all of the top sides so far this season. Not once have we been outplayed. That is a sign of the progress that we're making.

It's a long process and we're already ahead of ourselves. Silva has his flaws, sure, but he's been excellent so far in a short amount of time.
Not having that, our goalkeeper is getting plenty of stick at the moment, which he deserves, but he kept us in the United game with a series of outstanding saves, we had a go in that game but United deserved to win.

We will win 3-0 tonight.
Expecting tosun to start

1-0 ball crossed in hits a Newcastle defender ricotches and tosun hits the loose ball into the net

2-0 richarlison runs down the left, looks to cross but instead cuts in and passed it into the bottom right corner.

Second half

3-0 corner comes in, flicked on by Keane and tosun headers in from 2 yards out.

In the first 20 mins Newcastle hit a 25 yard pile-driver looks like it's heading into the top corner Pickford some how tips it over and then shouts at the defenders.

Shut up.

If you call getting Hull relegated and getting sacked at Watford excelling, well you have very, very low standards my friend, very low.

Doesnt take away from the very decent job hes doing here, of course, but, im just sayin.

If you mentioned his record prior to joining this league it was very good.

will be very interesteing to see how he reacts if we go on a losing run of a few games... he hasn't shown he cant halt a slide as yet.

Only issue with that is the lack of context with Hull.

They were a dreadful squad, and were relying on Niasse...

he actually had them OUT of the relegation zone with 2 games to go, but lost the last 2 games with an aggregate of 13-1 against and sunsequently went down.

failed

ark at septic peg here

Very disappointed not beating these crap team at home. Think he got it wrong today.

Wrong lineup maybe should not change the starting 11 initially.

Lookman doesn’t look like he has any defensive dispicline. Wrong decision to take Sigurdsson off.
