The thing is, in the first game against Wolves we had more shots on goal than BFS managed in about 5 games. Also under Allardyce we would never have signed a player like Richarlison or Bernard, we would still have that Tupac wannabe running up and down the wing trying to do stepovers. The football was dire at times and for a team with ambitions to break the top 6 (i know we are not close at the moment) he had to go. Now Silva was not my first choice as manager for a number of reasons, i would have prefered us to go for someone like Ralph Hasenhuttl who had just been released from RB Leipzig but Mosh had made his mind up. But we need to just get behind him and let him do his thing, he had a short pre-season with the players and needs to get everyone fit and a chance to put his philosophy across to the players. These idiots calling for his head already need to take a long hard look at themselves imo.
Not defending his time here, but he signed Jay Jay Okocha in the past

Most managers jump ship, when bigger club come in for them mate, it`s just the way it is > cash dollar.

It`s just that Watford made much more of it than most other clubs do.

Moyes was meeting Ferguson on the sly for months, before he took the Man U job.

The difference being that we didn`t whine and carry on whining like little bishes afterwards.
Moyes turned down loads of clubs (for better or worse) before he took the Man Utd job. It isn’t just about money

Yeah if you remember back Okocha was more than capable of sticking his foot in at times. It was more in reference back to the fact the reason he would'nt play Lookman last season was he prefered Bolasie, so if Allardyce was still here i was guessing we would still have mr stepover in the team that's all.

As disappointing as our start has been at least Bolasie has been booted out. Allardyce probbaly would have made him captain just to wind the entire fan base up.

You do realise that the teams we have faced this season have improved from last season?

West Ham for example spent vast money in the summer, they have also improved their manager, so Silva would have faced vastly different teams last season.

But none of that matters to you, cos your mind is already made up regarding the manager and nothing will change that view.

Quite sad that you dont have the ability to see things how they should be seen.

You sound like a stuck record.

Deja Vu.....all over again

When the signs were already apparent, during that dismal autumn of two years ago, that Koeman was a mistake, you were dismissing the opinion of anyone, myself included, whom didn’t believe in the genius of “Ronko” in that supercilious way of yours.

That you ended up with egg all over your face a mere twelve months later seems not to have dented your imagined status as some kind of sage round these parts.

Now, we are nowhere near that stage with Silva yet and I have seen no one claiming that we are.

Let’s just give the man a chance to do his thang,

But in the meantime we are all like minded fellows who come on here to jot down our thoughts on EFC on a daily basis and no harm in that.

You might be better employed accepting that not everyone holds the same opinion as you instead of wasting your time and energy taking offence at those who do.

After all.....it not called a “discussion board” for nowt :pint2:

And FWIW.....no matter how much money “West Ham for example” spent since last year, they had a 100% lose rate prior to coming here and readily walking away with three points.

If you want to shout down those of us whom sat through the last two home games against bottom of the table opposition and voiced our disappointment on here because you are cool with it then bully for you, sir.

We all hope that things will improve, starting at Arsenal on Sunday and that Silva proves to be the real deal.

But there is no guarantee that he be will no matter how much you cover your eyes and try to shout down those whom don’t share your opinion.

Because you got it spectacularly wrong when you tried that over “Ronko”.

Hope this helps ;)

Actually mate I was against Martinez prior to his appointment, I was against Koeman, I was against Silva.

But I get behind them, its all I know how to do, I dont use agendas, I dont pray for them to fail so I can say "I told you so", I sat through both home games, I just dont like negativity for negativity's sake.

Ive no issue with people expressing their negative viewpoints, as you say its a discussion board, people are allowed to express their opinion, just like im entitled to express mine, which I will continue to do.

Good day to you sir.

I really appreciate that he never looks like a slob.

It wouldn't be fair for the Everton time machine to ravage him like it does to every other manager

You couldn’t make it up, Toff.

So far it looks like much ado about nowt......with quite possibly a piper yet to be paid :(

The reason being put forward by many for our disappointing points return after the first five games is that it is due to continued unavailability, for one reaon or another, of the players he brought in and that he has had to rely on last season’s squad.

And it is certainly true he has had to make do with last year’s failures in the main.

But that begs the question where would we be right now if Watford had allowed us to have him this time last year.

I have yet to be convinced it wasn’t a bullet dodged and we woukd have endured a very anxious winter.

One imagines that if he cannot get a tune out of them now he wouldn’t have back then and whatever else about Sam, that immediate upturn in results lifted us well into the top half and we were never seriously threatened up there, despite the fall off in the latter stages.

I agree Khal, I still have some concerns. I think the positives outweigh the negatives, but maybe that's because on the whole i try to be positive about it.

The point really was that I was agreeing with Dave (lol) that there's no chance Silva isn't given time, because of how far we went to get him, rightly or wrongly.

Maybe, but Sam is no Jack Charlton. In fact it seems British managers in general get portrayed unfairly as being buffoonish and behind the times. Who can honestly say Moyes was behind the times when he was here? He really brought the club forward, and on a small budget too. Loads of foreign coaches came and went during that time. Our coaches never get a chance any more, and it is a disgrace.

But then, we tend not to play British players either, so Iguess it makes it easier!

I know it's been a poor start given the fixtures we've had but I can't believe people are calling for Moyes or Allardyce back. Bar half a season in 12/13 when we actually played some decent footy he was basically finished in his last 2/3 seasons with us. Genuinely laughed when he said we were a striker away from a title challenge. No away wins in 44 against the "big 4" let's not forget. Yet apparently according to Sky he had a good derby record. Man Utd exposed his lack of ambition and clueless tactics to the world. He's had 2 more sackings and a relegation since. As for the bring back Big Sam shouts, him being anywhere near Goodison let alone the dugout for 6 months was a disgrace. As is his tour of the media trying to rewrite history and big up the job he did.

I wasn't a fan of Silva or wanted him before he was appointed but he's had to rebuild a shambles of a squad that Koeman and Walsh left him behind. There's also 3 different styles of play in 1 squad from 3 different managers so it's going to take time to get his methods fully across. All his new signings haven't played together yet either due to injury or suspension so let's just wait to see what we look like in a few months time before properly judging him.

Wow! This perfectly sum's up my thoughts... Are you in my head! ;) Great post...

How many times did we say "if moyes had a billionaire owner, we would be going for the title", he lacked quality players because they cost too much, but in terms of grit and determination and getting the best out of players he was better then anyone, the crowds have been flat aswell since he left.
If marco silva continues this poor run of form, he is worth considering.

moyes did real well with money like ...

some managers are just better working under constrainsts… moyes is prime example

we need to get some WINS on the board asap.

the next few fixtures are interesting and some quite winnable and some , well, quite difficult.

I think we will have a much better idea of what direction this team is heading in 5 weeks time.

It’ll be results based at the end of the day. It’s like many people thinking we have a terrible squad and the destination of this “transaction season” must be trash like. And there must be happy ending after being crap for 1 season.

It took Koeman 7 games to get sacked after getting 7th because he lost to the like in Man City, Arsenal, Spurs and Man Utd etc, in a row. It took 6 months to sack fat Sam because of his playing style even he got 8th after last season horrible start.

My point is if one can’t deliver no one shall get a free pass. It applies to everyone. Silva is employed to deliver the results. And the time frame from delivering results may vary, depends on your standard and endurance. I have no idea how long this time frame should be though. I expect it will be at least a season.
