To be fair mate, is not really a fair comparison of you ignore all the garbage that went on in most matches every week and instead focus on two of the absolute highlights of watching football years ago: Le Tissier and Everton beating Utd in the Cup Final (even then, I don't remember it being a game filled with high-quality football). It is more about the overall style of play back then, more than anything else. The globalization of football is robbing the individual leagues of their character.
 

So far: Marco and Marcelo have (correctly) identified the problems: Williams, Klaassen, Vlasic, Mirallas, Martina, Besic, Bolasie, Garbutt - all not good enough or bad influences. Also it's clear Ramires was expendable. Likely we still need a better reserve keeper.
Of the remainder - sort out centre-half (done x 2), Get a new Left Back to take over from Baines (done), get better midfielders. Still need possible addition up front but no creativity no goals (as we stood)

Yesterday - a decent effort. We were the better side even with 10, all the hype over Wolves was likely misplaced a bit - after all the top 6 aren't within reach and West Ham, Everton, Leicester, perhaps Burnley and probably Palace are likely top half so if they make 10th to 12th that will be decent enough. If 7th best ish takes on 12th ish away from home then a draw is par (even better than that with 10 men for over half a game). The style of football was much much better, mind you I could send them out and tell them to have a go and enjoy themselves and that would be a massive improvement on the past 19 away league performances.
 

Love how he carries himself in interviews.

Very easy yesterday to say how pleased he was with the performance but he wanted more. Fella is a winner. We’ve given him some tools to have a crack at implementing his style - I look forward to us developing and in future windows giving him more quality to work with.

They both appear to have a competent vision of what is required to make this club successful.

We are miles apart from how we where being ran these past few years. The issue is how long it will take to repair the damage done and changing General perceptions.

The fans are fully committed to this new set up and that is the most important.

The naysayers and media hacks will yield eventually.
 
Always liked him and wanted us to pay Watford whatever it took when we were first interested. Fitness of the players looked decent for a season opener and we pressed and stayed on the front foot even after losing Jags.

My one negative was his lack of proactivity with subs. It was a bit Martinez-esque to wait until the momentum had shifted in their favour before thinking about subs rather than trying to kill the game. With that said, however, that could be more a comment on his lack of faith in those on the bench which, if true, should be less of an issue when the new lads are available.
 
My only concern with him is we let that Red go without him or anyone being in the refs / officials faces.

We need to learn to do what the top 6 do and start playing dirty.

Saying that Captain Jags let him down big time yesterday and hopefully it see's him gone for good. A disgrace if the bloke ever plays for us again.
