Personally I find the continental style establishing itself in the English game rather dull to watch. Slow build up play and a lack of action. But is Silva is able to make it work then hopefully he can bring some success to the club.

It just seems to me the actual quality of football is lower, insomuch as there seems to be far less goalmouth action etc.

I am absolutely convinced that this fella is a top coach, tactician, and motivator. Have been since he took the Hull job. He also plays a brand of football which will be very appealing to Evertonians.

With a bit of patience from the fanbase, which will be forthcoming, we could really go places with him.

He can also attract a player or two. A lot of people are saying trust in brands, but after this signing of richarlison we should trust Silva's judgement just as much.

Think it's just you chief

The only benefit to come from the reign of Fat Sam is that Silva will probably be afforded a bit more breathing room to put his plans into place.
The bar was so significantly lowered last year that previously, an opening day draw to a newly promoted team may have not been greeted with as much enthusiasm, even with the difficult circumstances we faced.

I liked how much control we had of the game today, unlucky not to win really. Unfortunate with Jags and their second was an error but overall we controlled it and had better chances and that's without our other new signings and with some rustiness from certain players.

I think that was a decent start to the season. It was a game, we should have won really.Let's try and stay unbeaten for as long as possible.Hopefully we'll get even better from here on in.We badly need a decent start to the season. We all saw how last season unraveled after a poor start. But so long as we see the team giving it's all, and playing good football, as we saw today. Then there will be no complaints from anyone.

I dunno, used the be much more fun watching the likes of Le Tissier, the old Man Utd teams, Leeds with Kewell and the like, the year Rideout scored to beat Utd in the FA Cup. 4-4-2 with wingers produced more exciting football.
To be fair mate, is not really a fair comparison of you ignore all the garbage that went on in most matches every week and instead focus on two of the absolute highlights of watching football years ago: Le Tissier and Everton beating Utd in the Cup Final (even then, I don't remember it being a game filled with high-quality football). Not sure why Harry Kewell makes it into that list of footballing highlights of decades gone by?
