Interesting comments from Gylfi yesterday about the team now having a ‘hands on’ manager. Wonder if that was a reference to Big Sam’s apparent preference for his villa in Spain over Finch Farm.....

Players always say that of a new manager: whatever the properties were of the previous manager, they'll say the new manager brings the opposite.

Yeh but he was still at PSV and hadn’t assessed our full squad yet, had he?
Which is why you’d cut him some slack on the overall situation but if you’d watched us last season it was clear there was an issue at the back. Is he not allowed to do any preparation before hand?

But until you see them in training under a new manager you're not sure if it's just the player or it's the tactics or if it's confidence etc. He'll only have seen us in highlights and playback videos won't he and only over the last 2 months. He didn't decide to leave PSV till the very end.

Agree to an extent but there are certain fundamentals that can be judged without doing that in the same way you make judgements regarding signing players. Also how long does that actually take, for instance it didn’t take him long to make a judgement on Mori.

"Boss I'm not happy here, I want more minutes, I want to leave"

I agree with most of this but I personally think his decision to leave was made much earlier than the end of the season.

He is a professional, with pride and morals. He was employeed by PSV, he had jobs to do for them. As if he was prepping us while with them.

And to expect him to do that is also shocking, you would be the first to fume if he does that with us!!

Stones was/is a terrible CB; however, he was much better than we had and have now...which underlines just how terrible we've been for years at CB.
I actually agree, he’s a good ball player but an awful defender.

He's not a CB. Never will be. He hasn't got the concentration levels that all top CBs have. They visualise danger before it happens and are always switched on.

Stones is a player who can link defence and midfield/attack up. He's a Carrick type of player. Been saying it for three years now.

The evidence was clearer than ever in the Second half v United in the fa cup Semi, he started off every move from midfield. It’s a shame no one has tried it yet because he would be a top player there.
