Did he give a post-match presser, then?
Looked quite high today saying that Jags/Keane couldn't move fast enough anywhere.Again, good thing he doesn't play a high line.
The nearest we played to how Silva wants to play was under Unsworth, who also likes to press. I know some people blamed him for conceding so many goals but he was severely hamstrung by the players at his disposal. There are a few lessons from that period that still apply. We really need two pacy commanding centre halves. If not Holgate is better than Keane when playing a high press. We need a new left back and we need a new defensive midfielder who can also distribute it well to start attacks. Neither Schneiderlin or Gueye are that player. Up front Niasse is the best forward to play the pressing game. That’s just some basic lessons from that time which need addressing by Silva before we start the season. The fact that none of them have is concerning. With the squad at his disposal 433 won't work imo. Tosun just can't lead the line, he needs someone alongside him. The midfield is too frail, i don't think we have the luxury of 2 midfielders being good enough to allow someone like Gylfi to just drift in and out of the game without a care in the world.
If he is going to persist with the crap at the back it needs to be a deep line, 442 with 2 wingers with pace which we have and someone who can stick close to Tosun to do his running and stretch defenders.
Unless he gets the players in he needs he needs to bin off the system we currently have because the players arent capable or good enough to play it.
WhaaatAgain, good thing he doesn't play a high line.
Today could be a decent result, because if he can't pick the bones out of that performance and carries on picking the same players in the same system he will be gone by november.
Agreed ,he also needs to learn that stubborn managers that try to fit players into a system that doesn't suit quickly loose their jobs.Managers learn more about their players in defeat than they do in victory.
