well id suggest a bright forward thinking coach who has a pedigree of winning trophies, at a much higher level than the greek league, that's what we plumped for this time round.

there are plenty of Spanish, French, german or Italian coaches that have won things at a much higher level...

Biesla is proving his worth, allbit in the champship which I would rate at a much higher level than the greek league

It's a fair response mate. However he did well in Portugal as well winning s trophy, and also had a years experience in England where he had performed decently.

Bielsa is a decent shout, but you do wonder at his age how well he would work under a DOF? You could look at guys like Jardim, but whether we could attract them is up for question.

I think the experience of Sam Allardyce, when we thought we could get a top manager in and ended up with him has made me re-appraise how quickly we lose managers.

I will look at this in one years time,I think we will have a more true reading of the current set up, its way too early yet and we alraedy have the ups and downs that evertonians have become accustomed too.

The spurs game dId NOT turn on anni individual error it turned on a perfectly good goal being disallowed
2-0 Big big difference in mindset to 1_0 and a disappointment

Either way, the team showed a worrying lack of mental strength and loss of heart after a misfortune.

You couldn't say that about Martinez' team when they played Chelsea and gave away two early goals. They still came out fighting and made Chelsea compete for the points.

Burnley will play for 90 minutes today, but we are far more skillful and should get the better of them if we can match their determination.

442 against Spurs. Disgraceful. Spurs played 433 and we were getting destroyed but he kept to the same system. Gomes and Davies overun in midfield by Spurs midfield 3 - but many on here blame Davies. You would imagine a thinking manager would withdraw Sigurdsson to play deeper and match up the numbers in midfield to at least block the route of their forward passes - no, not a bit of it, just leave Sigurdsson chasing shadows (slowly ) at the top of the pitch. Our main, predictable, attacking tactic is to work it out to the wings and get crosses into the box, usually by the fullback who push up. So Spurs repeatedly send Son and Kane to run into the space between where our full backs should be and our central defenders. The result - our 2 central defenders trying to deal with 3 outstanding forwards - but many decide it's Zouma who is poor. Does our esteemed manager instruct one of our central midfielders to sit in front of the 2 central defenders to react and pick up one their forwards when they are attacking? No. How about telling the full backs to hold defensive positions so there is very little space between them and the centre halves? No chance. But we're getting annihilated! Do something! No - stick to the plan and if it doesn't work it's the fault of the players.
A great manager looks at the opposition, particularly the shape they play, and sets up his team to deal with their strengths. If his plan isn't working a great manager reacts.
Yes, we've brought in some excellent players but that would appear to be due to Brandts. If your given the tools to work with but still can't produce then there's only one person to blame.
Having had my rant we'll probably outplay Burnley and win handsomely today.

We have put up good defensive displays at Chelsea and Anfield. But I expected us to cause far more problems to Spurs than we did.

Spurs - who had beaten Arsenal in the League Cup in midweek - played a stronger team than I expected, and were still prepared to chase every ball and press at every opportunity. We seemed ready to take Spurs on, and made a reasonable start. But Spurs' front three are not only good players, they showed a wonderful understanding between one another.

What was Silva supposed to do? Attack and try to pull a goal back, or defend to prevent a more embarrassing defeat? The first wasn't likely, and the second would not have been popular.

I think we can be confident of what to expect at Burnley - and I hope that we are better prepared.
