Didn't even need to sack him, his contract was up - a perfect opportunity to just get rid with no hassle.
I'd argue it's the first time in Moshiri's tenure that we've rewarded a failure. Mosh runs this place like some mad drunkard but he's never suffered fools. Martinez, Koeman, Walsh and Silva were all fired out of a cannon very quickly. Brands however has managed to survive with a plum new deal despite the fact that he's been a monstrous failure and deserves to be spoken about in the same breath as Walsh.
Perhaps us fans are overstating the impact of FFP and what we are actually witnessing this summer is an orchestrated withdrawal from all of Moshiri's previous ambitions by the man himself? It's possible that hiring Benitez, retaining Brands, offering to sell James Rodriguez etc are all just ways of preserving a form of mediocrity so that Moshiri can properly safeguard his investment until the stadium is complete.
