I think he's forcing interested clubs to come to us rather than him going to everyone and asking them to sign our players...puts us in a stronger position.

Hes also said in recent weeks about Bergwijn and Lozano being too expensive which, when backed up by this interview means he wont be paying for players unless its a good deal....by saying €20mil for lozano, if we got him for €25-30mil it could psychologically seem a good price for PSV, even if hes rated at €30mil+.

Hes also said 1 in 1 out so i think hes just posturing.

Unfortuantely we got a bit carried away with all of the 'Mersey billionaires' stuff when Moshiri came on board, as well as clubs being aware of the fee we got for Lukaku, and now it's very important that we get back to something like the 'frugal' Everton image we had before.
If you look at how Spurs and Atletico Madrid conduct transfer business (at least in recent years) they are in for quality players but the other party always knows they are only willing to pay realistic fees. Brands seems to be quite rightly trying to cultivate that image and present us as an outfit that works towards a strategy rather than being reactive - which is unfortunately very necessary after Steve Walsh set us back years by swanning to Milan with his shades on.

I watched him when Leganes played Alaves recently. Quite erratic in some of his play and decision making (only a kid), but not scared to come for a cross and had a presence about him too. Quite similar to Pickford in some ways.

Don’t Real Madrid own this lad?

Edit: It got confirmed he is indeed owned by Real.

As much as I wanted a top slotter, the build is a patient one from Brands who is evidentally keen to not just splurge for splurging sake - but he is keen to maximise the potential of the squad.

Also, his communicating skills are brilliant - I personally like the club keeping its cards close to its chest - however in his openness he does it in a way that strengthens our position going into any negotiations.

I expect this feller to be busy in January, and if he isn't I'd want to know why. He can see what we are desperate for.

Agree 100%.

I like Brands and think he'll be a success for us however one win against hopeless Burnley doesn't paper over the issues that we are so reliant on Richarlison to score when the lads not even a ST as our forward options are gash.

I hope its just posturing from him same as Silva when he said Tosun has a future here - because we are desperate for at minimum a quality centre forward coming through the door (and a right sided winger).

The season isn't other yet and we still have the FA Cup and 7th to fight for (possibly 6th if Ole's honeymoon period ends quickly) so I would be disappointed if the club decide not to strengthen and happily take a 8-10th finish.

No striker through the doors in January = that will tell me all I need to know about Brands.

People expecting us to sign a conventional CF will continue to be disappointed in the near future, I think.
In common with many clubs at present are aim is to play with Forwards who can play across the front line , highly mobile and with the perceived ability to interchange. Players such as Richarlison who can be used centrally for Brazil as well as for us.
Lozano , a player who many want us to sign, is another player who is described as a Forward rather than a winger due to his ability to play across the front.
If Brands is being truthful about his intentions (and I suspect he is), I think he is correct in prioritising giving our promising young forwards game time to further their development.
For me our problem so far this season is not the lack of a goalscorer but our failure to produce enough chances. Our approach play has generally been very good but we have been too hesitant and slow around the box ,often squandering the ball with a poor pass and allowing the opposition to counterattack. If we can speed up and improve our decision making in this area it will give our capable young forwards the chance to score the goals we crave.

Sorry Dave have to say your comment is a bit of nonsense. Brands has done darn well and reading the articles he is involved shows what we need to know of his ambitions which are those for the club. You are harping on about a striker and for you that is the be all and end all, so fine. But come on Dave who can we get that is still young enough and has a record showing he is capable of 20 a season that is the bottom line.

It's an interesting comment by Brands. The 84/85 side had 5 players who scored more than 10 goals that season and the opposition didn't know what was going to hit them.
The following season we concentrated a lot of attack through Lineker (I'm not knocking him. He was superb). But when he was injured we simply didn't win the games we needed to.
