Anyone with a "philosophy" of how the game "should" be played sets alarm bells ringing for me.

I would prefer the simplicity of Brian Clough who would say things such as pass the ball to someone wearing the same coloured shirt, that's the goal - put the ball in it, if you lose the ball go and get it back

I like the basics, but with more substance to be able to adapt to particular opposition. Became too predictable under Martinez with his stubborn game-plan that other clubs worked us out. Adapt to exploit opposition weaknesses. But whatever that adaptation is, choosing the right pass, doing what's best for the team to get a goal... those always persist.
