Cheers mate,on balance a draw was probably correct, just gut wrenching we couldn't see it through, gueye motm for me,although Davies did a hell of a lot of unnoticed work and was everywhere.

...Gareth Barry, though. 35 years of age and still a class act. As I've been saying on here, the fella is a footballers footballer who's team mates will have been chuffed to see him playing last night. I know I'm almost alone in liking him on here but I hope others appreciated last nights performance.
When he's dropped into the right sort of game, he's brilliant. United's tentative build up play suited him well. When he's up against all-out pace on the counter attack, he struggles, but you don't get that every game.

I think Koeman's using him well, for the most part.

..quite rightly Schneiderlin will come in when fit but Barry has to play in this team at this time. Gueye and Davies will be chuffed that he can sweep up behind them, Baines and Holgate will be chuffed he's there when their wide players cut inside, Jagielka and Williams will be chuffed that he's a barrier in front. The team just looks to have a better balance and he's a calming influence. Had he played on Saturday I'm convinced they wouldn't have scored the first two goals.

He was superb last night along with Jags, defending deep helps these players performance due to their lack of pace. I also thought Holgate was brilliant against Rashford. Just thought the substitutions were wrong. I would of took Lukaku off and left Mirallas on.. Lookman/Valencia for Barkley

...agree, Matey. Holgate certainly deserves a mention.

I thought the game was crying out for Lookman but I wouldn't have brought Lukaku off. They were defending on the half way line but we just didn't make the most of the situations we had.

Dunno mate, hindsight is great, lets not forget Barry played against Spurs and the rs in the second half first derby and was p poor in both and allowed midfielders space etc.

Last night he was absolutely immense, as he was in the City game also, effectively he either seems to be great or terrible now and it is down to the players he's up against, both City and Untied had slow central midfielders without a huge amount of movement, and he excelled, spurts and the rs have players criss-crossing all over and never stop running, and he struggled. Also a marked difference in that both United and City give you time to play and don't press insanely

He is the very epitome of a situational starter for us IMO

DLC should be on loan at a mid/lower table championship side mate, he isn't anything close to being ready to start/play for a side which is currently 7th in the table, not by a long shot.

He may have a great attitude and train really well, but on the actual pitch he is adding nothing really - shows just how lacking in options we have really beyond Lukaku that he is getting so many minutes.

Valencia and Lookman would both have been better options last night, especially so Valencia if you just wanted someone to stretch them and run his backside off

You're not alone. I know he's no spring chicken and the games he plays for 90 mins have to be selected carefully. There seems to be certain whipping boys and he's one of them. I didn't vote for him as MOTM last night but chose Jags.

..cheers Robbo, glad you appreciate him as well.

I'm not sure he would've worked against Liverpool. The threat is different. But I agree totally that he's an important calming influence. You need maturity in midfield in big games.

I just wish he was five years younger.

...I'm not saying we would've got something against the Reds but his inclusion let's Gueye and Davies play. On Saturday they were not goalside of Mane or Coutinho for their goals. That's not a criticism, it's because they are closing players down in space further up the pitch. Barry would have been goal side for both of those goals. He'd also have supported Baines and Holgate when players cut inside.

Had he played Saturday we would've been much better balanced. This team needs a defensive midfielder. That should be Schneiderlin but in his absence don't change the whole shape.
