East European Jews spoke Yiddish when led to them being called Yids. Spurs (along with Arsenal) had a large Jewish following even pre-WW2 which led to us being called Yids in a derogatory manner. We subsequently adopted the moniker as badge of honour. People like Baddiel suggest that if we stopped calling ourselves Yids then oppostion fans would cease from using the word in a racist way. A bit like saying if women stopped wearing short skirts they wouldn't be sexually assaulted.

The worst culprits are WHU & CFC who both have Jewish owners which probably tells you all you need to know about their respective intelligence levels.
