Man mark Bale?

Neville at RB with Coleman at RM. Coleman can keep up with him and Neville can tell him what to do to (hopefully) keep him quiet so effectively have a skilled irish Neville marking him

That might work if Bale was still just a left winger, but he's not. He plays in the middle for large parts of the game and often ends up on the right side, he has a free role which makes him extremely difficult to man mark. It's not the same as with Fellaini where he was relatively slow for Jones to keep track of.

Even if he did just play on the left though, he's improved a lot since even last season and Neville has gone backwards.

Nev's got Bale's number and has for ages. Man to man, he keeps him quiet, all else aside.

he welsh but we should just take him out. he was carrying an (ankle?) knock during the recent internationalls, get del on with his calf hacking skills, neville points at his ankles and del changes his focus area.

football's not rocket science

Seamus is quick enough and disciplined enough to do it.

discipline the key definitely... coleman

Coleman for me.

Coleman dealt and kept Bale quiet in the past

Coleman can keep up with him

Crumbs...Seamus it is then.

He seems to be allowed to float and not hold any kind of position. For that reason no. No point man marking.

Deffo this. There is no point in marking him in the role he has at the minute where he just seems to pop up everywhere. And he only needs the minimum of space to get a shot in.

That's what they want you to think! One of the reasons flair players have a free role is to dissuade the opposition from employing a man-marker. In our case, losing one of our players to a normal position as he is constantly man-marking the free-roaming Bale will benefit us more than it will them. They lose their one big player, and we lose just a team player.

It's like chess. Our knight for their queen.

And then they have Holtby, Lennon, Defoe, Sigurdsson, Dembele who are all capable of causing us problems.
