A disabled man who was days away from becoming a father again was left unable to walk after a brutal derby day attack outside a pub.

Kenny McDonald intervened to stop a gang of men from picking on his friend when they rounded on him and beat him to the ground, kicking and punching him as he lay unconscious.

It is believed as many as 20 people may have been involved in the brutal assault, which happened as Mr McDonald enjoyed a drink at the Old Bank in Huyton with his family after the Liverpool-Everton match on Saturday.

Anyone see or hear anything? This is horrific.

How much disdain must they have for the law when those thugs not only beat the guy to a pulp, but pursued him in public and openly continued the beating, basically leaving him for dead. It reminds me of how the Stinson Hunter referred to the UK prison system in that channel 4 documentary: "It's like a holiday".

Horrible, just horrible. There are far too many people who are mentally unstable roaming around doing things like this.

When the authorities fail to deal with such backward minded scum as those responsible for this cowardly attack, they not only give the go ahead for others to repeat such a disgusting offence but dissuade the few parts of the public left that are prepared to stand up and prevent criminals in the act.

This stupid country.

Why the feck 20 people needed to round on a man, kick him to the floor and CONTINUE to kick him whilst he was down...it's just pathetic, unthinkable and truly disgusting.

Thugs. Plain and simple.

I think alcohol has a lot to do with it.
It does, but there are plenty of people who drink quite a bit of alcohol who don't decide to go beat up a helpless man. Alcohol plays it's part but there is more to it than that. There is more underlying problems with individuals who commit these malicious attacks.

I'm almost as shocked that people still drink there to be honest.

I've not been there for years and it was a hole back then.

Edit: The Old Bank I mean.

My uncle is a regular so I'll be asking if he knows much, I've never drank there, I don't even like drinking in Huyton.
