Every picture tells a story:

On the left City heat map / Everton's on the right.

That little blue blob beside Cities penalty spot is Rom slotting past Bravo yyyyyeeeeeerrrrrssssss

Excellent performance from Everton there. Incredible goal by Lukaku, what a player he is.

Player ratings , can't be arsed to do all of them

Stekelenburg: 10
Williams 9
Jagielka 5
Lukaku 9
Snivelley - (minus) 10000 the cowardly little ratfink

Barry 9

Stop it. He lost a man for the first goal and we were dominated throughout the game in midfield. He was lucky not to get sent off as well. How does that deserve a 9?!

Can understand you wanting to take positives and all. But 'the toughest away game of the year' and 'best team in the League' is debatable, we got out of jail there, we wasn't very good......at all. As good as City we're in that 1st half, we were awful, incapable of stringing any sort of pass together, simple balls were going astray. Yeah, it may well be a good point, but overall that performance wasn't very good at all. Stek doesn't save them 2 pens and you'd be on here moaning that Koeman got it wrong. Fine lines.
One thing that isn't debatable is that you'd be being biased if you could fit 2 of our players into their starting xi.

Pipe it

It depends on what you want from your team. Personally i like us to compete against these top teams not just to survive. Which is why Moyes' knife to a gun fight was hated so much.
Dave, mate, fellow contributor. You have hammered our squad and our signings and you've not been massively favourable toward Koeman, yet you expect us to compete today? I can't get my head around that.

1 1.

End of.

...mmmm, not so sure. I agree it was a great point but the game and heat map illustrates where we need to be. I don't mind being under the cosh as long as we have a continual threat, that's the aim for me. Our goal was terrific but that level of threat was isolated, it needs to regular through the game. I'm sure RK knows that.

The aim has to be to go to top sides and they struggle to manage our attacking threat.

I am, nor pretend to be, some hipster or footie purist, but just enjoy the game.

Loved today, even though we should have been stuffed out of sight.
I agree. They're fantastic, brilliant squad, brilliant manager, brilliant options and we've got a point off them, what's to be dissapointed about?

It's one for the neutrals today: a lot of action and a bit of a siege. That'll be the MOTD framing of it.

I'd rather we weren't patronised by the likes of Guardiola tbh. I want him fuming and saying Everton didn't hurt them...because if he ever does it'll mean we haven't gone there and played like Real Betis or some team in La Liga when they used to tip up at the Nou Camp.

I'd prefer if we don't start playing like Real Betts to be honest

There's obvious improvement, but if we take the performance of the outfield players today its not great at all. Another day we concede form both pens and go down heavily and everyone on here is fuming. Just because our keeper had a worldy is not going to make me overlook what I consider to be a poor performance.

Moyes got slated for performing like this at top sides away from home and he usually had poorer quality players to deal with. I don't see why its knife to a gun fight for one manager but managerial genius when Koeman does it.

We came for a point and were lucky to get one. That's the headline of this game.
Very happy with the point which I would have taken before the game. Showed a lot of resilience and backbone which has been missing in the last 2 seasons. Excellent displays from some of our defensive players, notably Stek and Williams. Great goal from Rom. City play fantastic football it has to be said.

Having said that I'm still disappointed in certain aspects of the performance. I think Koeman was right to drop Ross for a more compact combative midfield 3. But it was clear early on that the 433 formation wasn't working as there was absolutely no link from the defence to the forwards on the occasions we did manage to win the ball back. There was no outlet.

I think replacing Del with McCarthy was a poor tactical move. I'd have brought Barkley on at that stage and changed to a 4312 formation playing Ross behind Rom and Bolasie. We would still have had 7 defence minded players out there and I reckon Ross would have found more space to start counter attacks. Rom showed what he can do when that happens.

Overall delighted with the point, less so with the performance.
