For those turning their noses up at Malky Mackay, I ask why? We had a manager who had won league title after league title after league title (after league title) in WS before turning to Moyes, and he's done an OK job. Mackay has some factors in his favour. He's hella young (born 1972). He was loyal to Watford/Cardiff despite interest from Norwich (his former club). He guided Watford to 14th despite being hot-faves for relegation. He has now guided Cardiff to promotion (and YOU DON'T DO THAT PLAYING AWFUL FOOTBALL as some have said). It's something Moyes was unable to achieve with Preston. He's also Scottish (and that means we'd have had 3 Scottish managers on the trot which is great for the superstitious amongst us). His English is obviously better than say, Martinez's, and he'd be very very hungry. I like this rumour. I like it a lot. And that's that. Read his wikipedia or research into him more before you turn your noses up at him. If Moyes wants to leave for whatever reason, Mackay is a brilliant shout.

We're in the top 6.. In the best league in the world.
Don't fall for the ' no-ones going to be interested ' rubbish.
There will be loads of interested managers.

Any Moyes fan criticising any names mentioned with us is a massive hypocrite. We didn't pluck Moyes from Barcelona, so anyone ****ging off Mackay for "only" managing in the Championship is simply wrong.

I'm not going to criticise any Moyes replacement ahead of them being given a chance in the role.

A club who have a rich billionaire is not going to let a manager who has just gained promotion go for nothing as we will let DM go for nothing - that's for sure it just press crass making stories anyway our chosen one has not decided what to do as yet our chairman is just a big actor!

 It,s going to be a cracking summer given this is the first named linked with the club.

Did his name fall out a xmas cracker....

On another note how many players will go in the summer if Moyes goes? All moyes players, watched the club sit on their hands in Jan !

Over to you Billy

not for me, he's won the championship with a club that has been there or there abouts for the past half decade, didn't set the world alight at Watford. Need a proven individual, not some small ish name from the championship.

It said in the Daily Mail that Malky Mackay has emerged as a leading candidate for the Everton job should David Moyes leave in the summer. I think he would have good reason to want to come to Everton, for example - Reading & Southampton came up last season and BOTH of their managers that brought them up got sacked so why would Malky want to follow in their footsteps when he could have the chance to come to a stable club like Everton...thoughts everyone?

This "story" must be eminating from the same Mail on Sunday "source" which said today that Moyes was being "considered" by Citeh, Chelsea amd a "number of leading Bundesliga clubs".

Must be the same agent repping the pair of identikit dour Jocks.

I haven't read the rest of the thread but I would be really happy to have a Scottish, retired defender as our next manager.

Like, really happy.

Whoever it is:

1) Better not play favorites
2) Better play the best players available in their correct positions
3) Play to win, not to "not lose"
4) Get their tactics straight from the get go.
