*sigh*

Getting above Moyes record points total in your first season was a big achievement...didn't just better it either, blazed right past it.

Look, you can take it or leave it: I didnt go overboard about Martinez's first season when it happened, and I'm not going overboard about the decline this season...I'm trying to both criticise his faults this season and support his tenure as manager for the coming season.

It's really that simple.

Instead you're going overboard in the praise of his first season to try and counter those who you think are going overboard in this season.

It tells me they occur because the fickle haven't got it through their heads we have a manager who worked a miracle last season and WILL be given enough time. It's a big wind up by people with agendas. They'll crawl back under their stones soon.\

Whilst acting like you're Mr Rational without your own agenda.

Which everyone you labelled a plotter and a troll, and pretty much all those that are left who you didn't know that's bollocks.

And it's laughable you say you criticise his faults when you don't criticise his biggest : that he has the team who finished 5th last season in 14th come March 21st due to the awful slow ass tippy tappy way he has them playing, totally different to the good stuff he acheived the previous season.

But you think criticising his playing style means you by default praise the only other way that you deem possible to play : Sargeant major Moyes agricultural hoofball. So you won't do it and make up that people want that style back so you can attack them for it.

yeah can't really be shipping out and bringing in 10 new players haha agree though that we have alot of deadwood
Yeah, I agree. We won't be a top destination this summer and we will possibly lose a couple top players as well. Unfortunately, that means we have to hang on to some of the dead weight for now.

Don't really wade into these types of conversations, however @davek is pretty much spot on if I understand correctly.

Martinez did very well last season, extremely well.
This season he made the mistake of believing the veterans could last another season...huge mistake.
Now due to the underperformers he's been caught short.
Still he needs to overhaul the squad in the summer and bring in his own players to fit his style

Not sure what part of the above isn't obvious...

Personally I will get rid of Hibbert, Kone, Distin, Atsu, Alcaraz this summer.

We won't clear all deadwoods in one go.

Then, the next group of players who will leave (2016 summer) are McGeady, Barry, Pienaar, Howard (if he fails to get back to form).

I will keep Ossie. He is still a good squad player for the time being. I don't rate Robles. If he is 2nd or 3rd choice I won't complain. First choice keeper no ta. If I have a choice, I will keep Mirallas.

I think we will keep Hibbert and Kone til summer 2016 when both their contracts run out then they'll be gone, same with Pienaar and Osman. Gibson is also out of contract so I suspect he will be allowed to leave as well.

So it's gone from a "miracle" to simply good work now.

Not that getting 9 points more than the previous season where Stevie Wonder could see a more positive approach would achieve that is a miracle whatsoever anyway.

Unless overstating last seasons achievment now helps some kind of agenda that is.
Or having a top class striker on loan. Moyes would have got us the same points or better with Rom.

No chance. It's old and it needed breaking up after Moyes.

Lukaku is the best striker we've had in the PL and McCarthy our best CM, imo. That;s the two additions who have made the difference.

You are possibly correct on this. But Dave our EX was never given that amount of money to splurge on one player so your implied criticism is unwarranted.

If it was up to me

Distin
Howard
Oviedo
Hibbert
Mirallas
Pienaar

With a much reduced role for Barry.

I think most of those players will go ( from the Mail article) but not Barry, McGeady and Alcaraz. Martinez brought them in, he won't get rid of them. The others I think will go, and Mirallas as well I'm hoping in the summer we get;

New keeper (michel Vorm from Spurs)
New Central defenders ( two)
Wingers (three) with pace

I think we probably won't be able to sign all these players, we will probably get 3 on loan

Oh and Cleverly, as he is on a free and Martinez loves him

I think we'll buy a mid 20s CB and two wide forwards. My choice would be Gil and Deulofeu.

Would love our team to be :

Lukaku
Gil Barkley Deulofeu
Besic McCarthy
Baines Stones Jags Coleman
Robles
That would probably cost about the same as we would get for Mirallas and most importantly be actually possible to get. Then we could bank the TV money and put it towards the stadium.

I would be very excited what that team and our youngsters could achieve in the next few years.
