Magaye Gueye?

I actually think he's potentially a really good player. He's very capable with the ball at his feet, his delivery of the ball is excellent and he is learning and developing his football brain. He isn't quick but Pienaar isn't absolutely lightning.

Every youngster who comes through with us is given a lot of support by our fans, at least for the first few years (Anichebe seems to have outstayed his welcome in that regard). But for some reason people have been very willing to write Gueye off.

I actually agree with those who don't think he'll make it with us long term, but there's a strange disparity between the fans' attitude to him and Vellios for example - who I don't think will make it with us either. Off the top of my head I think Magaye's got two goals and two assists for us in what can't be more than 6 or 7 games, accumulatively. Why's he treated with such cynicism?

Gueye is older and has played a lot more in total (24 games last season). He's in a similar position to Vic in that regard.

I like him, I just think he's too slow for the premier league.

am not a fan, and you'd have to expect that Oviedo would be ahead of him in the pecking order, thats until his work permit fails of course and he'll be back in there moonwalking across goodison

I think if he had a yard more pace he'd be hugely effective, especially coming off the bench as it stands. He has one hell of a cross on him.

I wholeheartedly agree. He is, if nothing else, a very good deputy. Just because he lacks pace, people seem quick to write him off.
