Looking at some good prices for a much needed holiday in March. Has anyone been before? Keen to grab some feedback.

Thus far I know the following:

- hilly
- old people go there
- greasy Ronaldo is from there

Hi mate,

my dad went a while back, he said it was a fantastic place, very picturesque and friendly and lovely weather.

Nacional and Maritimo in the Portuguese league are from Madeira, worse case scenario, try and watch a game!! haha..

I hate commercial holidays and shouty youths disturbing me when on holiday, so a nice relaxing break with old people will suit me fine I reckon.

Hadn't thought about the football - if we go, we'll be there on 20th...will see if I can swing that one by the wife.

One of the things I do is take out walking groups and probably 75% of them have been to Madeira and loved it. (Yes, they're mostly "old" as well.) Look up levada walking in your favourite search engine for an idea of the walks. They have guided walks (apparently) if you haven't done that kind of thing before.

I think the plants and flowers are supposed to be good as well if you are into gardening and all that.
