cant find that sky story

Colombian international Macnelly Torres could be in line for a move to England this summer, Sky Sports can reveal.

The 28-year-old, who plays for Atletico Nacional in his homeland, is a mainstay of the Colombian midfield with over 30 caps to his name.

Torres would qualify for a work permit given Colombia's current world ranking of seventh.

A number of English sides are now studying Torres, knowing that he has a release clause of less than £2million.

New Everton boss Roberto Martinez is believed to be a fan, whilst West Brom, Crystal Palace and Hull are all said to be taking a keen interest.

His British representative Dan Chapman of Full Contact told Sky Sports: "Macnelly is a tremendous player, he just has not had the attention of many of Colombia's bigger stars - but he is now very much on the radar of a number of clubs.

"Whilst he may be 28 he still has some great years ahead of him, and we think he will be a star in next year's World Cup supplying the ammunition to Falcao and Jackson Martinez.

"He is, and we are, very hopeful he will be playing Premier League football before the end of the transfer window."

I might be overreaching, but why would we go for this guy when Keisuke Honda is available on a free? They are similar style players but Honda is utterly class. We should be going for a higher caliber player.. not some South American unknown!

He looks great on youtube but ive never heard or seen anything of him but by all accounts Falcao loves playing with him in the national side as he as a great knack of picking him out at every opportunity with a great pass or through ball.

And looking at his youtube, he looks like a forward thinking, positive player who always looks to play forward and either put the striker through or put wide players in with a pass in dangerous areas and we lack that kind of AMC player who can be a link between Gibbo & Felli and attack!.

For less than £2m, and a Colombian international, is worth taking the risk on IMO. Yes, he's 28 going on 29 this year, but he isnt no kid who will take a season or 2 to get going, he's been around abit in his homeland and will only take a matter of months to acclimatise to the country, league and pace of the game in England.

He's not though, yet!. His contract runs out next Jan so you would have to pay a small fee for him, anything from £2-4m i'd imagine?!.

because theres like 10 clubs after Honda and some of them are huge clubs playing CL footy. thats why,

I heard he was out of contract this summer, but perhaps I'm misinformed. Even so, if he is out of contract in January, CSK can't be asking for much in terms of a transfer fee. The £2-4m you mentioned sounds about right. And if you ask me, that's an absolute bargain.

that's why I started my post with the term "overreaching". I never said getting Honda to come to Goodison would be easy or a sure thing, but he is without a doubt the caliber of player the club should be striving for.
