Just been reading that 8 people, yes, 8 people have complained that the M&S advert featuring Phillip Glenister is sexist.
BBC News - M&S Christmas TV ad 'offensive'
I realise that these things can cut both ways, but this time I decided that I would put in a supporting statement for the ad. After all I "got" the joke.
Imagine my surprise when I went to the advertising standards authority and saw this notice.
Important notice
Marks & Spencer Christmas ad
The ASA has received a small number of complaints about the Marks & Spencer Christmas TV ad. The ASA is currently considering the complaints to establish whether or not there appears to be grounds for an investigation.
If you are e-mailing to register your support for the M&S ad or to object to the complaints we have received please be aware that we cannot enter into correspondence on this matter. It is our role to establish whether an ad is in breach of the Codes, not to monitor levels of support for an ad. A decision on whether to investigate will be made in due course.
Again, I said that it cut's both way, but eight bl***dy people can take an advert off screen? And yet, when thousands complain about a certain TV company interupting a vital part of a football match with an ad, they get no more than a slap wrist.
