12months ago Baines was the best in the League and one of the best in the World according to some on here. Now some 22yr old whose played 10 games should play ahead of him? Ha no. Fair play for him wanting to go and start week in week out, but why choose the easy way out? Challenge Baines, learn from him.

A player wants to leave us and like a lovestruck teenager, our pride takes a hit.

We replace him with someone who wants to leave their club.

Not exactly sensing we have all the necessary ingredients of a Greek tragedy.

What about when Baines wasn't there? I think that's more to the point. Writing was probably on the wall the moment he saw a 34 year old crock playing out of position ahead of him when Baines was missing.

Swansea and Bournemouth have offered him a contract according to the Echo.

If I was Garbutt and was told by either club that I'd start every week, I'd be waving Goodison goodbye :bye:

We can't offer him the game time, and for a lad his age there's nothing he needs more.

But he played a few days later in the far more important and difficult game away against Wolfsburg. Fair enough if there was a pattern of Hibbert being chosen ahead of him but it was one game in the same week as a must win match, do you honestly think that 90 mins against West Ham was enough for Garbutt to change his whole career over?

And the manager was fully vindicated that day.

Hibbo had a fine game.

It us unreal the fretting going on here over a player who is at best our third choice left back.

And given Galloway's performance at left back this past two games, he is facing comoetition even for thst role

You can't fault him for looking away to some club where first team opportunities will be greater.

Who said he was ahead of him? RM was the one who was toying white the idea of Baines in a midfield role ok!

Exactly...I don't whole heartedly agree with you all of the time, but you are spot on here.

baines was abut the 5th best assister this season in the league ... enough said.
I agree but age wise it would have been nice to keep a 16 year old we paid a million for at the age of 16 who is a under 21 left back pity and sad it's panned out this way!
He may flop, but my gut feeling he will make the grade maybe!
