His contract situation does complicate that though along with the fact he is already 3rd choice behind two good internationals who are under 30.

His contract is up at the end of the season, if Hibbert gets his spec he will be on the phone to his loan club saying 'I'm coming back if you'll have me'... now if this is a good or bad thing I don't know.

martinez is a divvie really. Bigging up Browning and Garbutt but then too scared to play them. He just wants to seem like he's big on youth, Moyes tactics.

You'd be devastated if you were Garbutt really.... if you're 3rd choice LB and can't get in when the first two are injured..what's the point. And he's 21, not like he's 18 with no experience whatsoever.

Could be. Wolfsburg are much less physical than Wham, might be an easier intro for him in that sense.

After Wolfsberg we play Spurs away on the Sunday followed by a home game v Hull on the Wednesday and City away the next Saturday, Baines will prob play against Wolfsburg and Spurs so maybe he'll get a run out in the Hull game at Goodison and then the game v's Krasnodar that follows the Man City game.

Not when Hibbert is lurking around he won't. Very disappointing for Garbutt as he's looked stern given the opportunity (pre-season and Swansea in the league cup) and he's the natural left back. FFS

I said if Garbutt didn't play today then it's obvious he's refusing a new contract. Martinez is sending him the message. I'm not sure what it is though.

Seems strange. Frankly Martinez' team selection is pissing me off. I expect Ross stuck on the left again today.
