I'm a member of the football manager researchers forum (I research lancaster city, not Everton), and the Coventry researcher on there says the fee is definitely below £1m. He thinks it's £200k up front, but may also have other clauses to do with goals scored, games played, sell on fee, team achievements, etc.

Why would that be undisclosed I wonder.

Perhaps it was because he signed for a million. Everton just wanted to keep that deficit quiet. Honestly we all knew he was nowhere near the first team. That million must have included all sorts of clauses though.
