Lukaku

Last night was the first game in a while where he hasn't been visibly frustrated with his lack of service. He's got a habit of throwing his arms in the air if someone misplaces a simple pass to him or when he loses it and tends to struggle to regain composure. Last night he was applauding Barkley's/Mirallas’ attempts at feeding him. Give him the balls he wants and he'll run teams ragged. I hope Kompany is still out on Saturday, he'll give their center halves a right game.

Rom's goal was Highlight of the Night over here on TSN and as a result he goes into the daily 1 v. 1 vote against the current champ, Canadian junior hockey player Connor McDavid, scoring an OK goal, but nothing jaw-dropping. Right now, McDavid leads 65%-35%, so if you can, get on TSN.ca/1v1 and vote now. You've got until 11 p.m. in England.

The lad can't win, doesn't score or run around like a headless chicken for 90 minutes and he's lazy and a waste of money, etc. (a lot of closet racists who just want him to fail I think), he scores, gets in a few headers and he's boss all of a sudden. People need to get behind him everyweek and remember he's not a donkey, he's a slotter, who's natural game isn't running the channels and winning headers. If he did those things he'd still be at Chelsea

Erm no.

I remember you saying the same about Anichebe.

You've got issues you.

One of his more complete matches. Even before the goal he was my MOTM (although there weren't a lot of good performances). One thing that I feel has gone under the radar is that his touch and control has made a noticeable improvement since the start of the season. I have more faith in someone like Lukaku improving because he has the desire and work ethic that many star players don't.

Also it is nice to see he is providing one or two incisive passes a match as well.

Ive doubted his ability for a while but last night was genuinely the first time I saw that he could one day become a world class striker. Was head and shoulders above everyone. Every time he got the ball he turned and dominated the Hammers back line. The only problem was that the other 10 men struggled to get the ball to him.

Lukaku's strength (and weakness!) is in his head. When he's feeling confident, he can almost do anything anywhere he wants. When he's not ...

That said, I really hope this excellent performance and dito goal have boosted his confidence so that we get to see more of this kind of Lukaku. He's such a beast (if he believes it to be).

I still can't get over that closet racists comment. Lord above.

Last night proved we a lot of us already knew. Its not Lukaku that is broken, its the system he's been forced into playing. Hopefully Bobby sticks with the approach from last night.

Isn't that the weakness of every young player especially the ones that feel the pressure to create and score goals.

Give it a rest. If you've any evidence, not speculation anyone criticizes Rom due to racism then lets hear it otherwise STFU and stop bringing that issue into the forum and offending loads of people.

Of course, but with Rom the difference between him playing with confidence and him playing without is enormous. And I mean this in a positive way; when he's full of confidence he can do the greatest things.

I don't want to compare him to the likes of Ibrahimovic, because Ibra is a genius on the field. But Rom should strive towards some of Ibra's state of mind (not the crazy part though). Ibra always comes on the field believing, nay knowing, he's the best on the field ... and he plays accordingly. Even when he's not in the game he remains confident and when given the opportunity he will score.
That's what Rom should be thinking whenever he's playing.

A large percentage of you are over reactiige hyperbolic beauts who swing from extremes of dislike and praise with Everton's players.
Heaven forbid fans should criticize a player when they have a bad game, then praise them when they have a good one.

If there's people who are persistently on someone's back then claim to be their biggest fan soon as they have a good game, then sure, they're absolute beauts.
