Lukaku

Must admit: I've been calling him all season - thinking he's slow/lazy.

Last night was the first match I watched since City (because of my work schedule) and I saw things in a different light.
People are right. He isn't getting the service. When he does he looks dangerous.

Saying that, he was a big lump at the beginning of the season; I'll stand by that.

Last night was the Lukaku we saw last year!

I don't buy what some are saying in that it was because he got better service, I didn't notice much of a difference in the service in to him.

What I did notice though, was instead of just popping it off when he got the ball, he was holding on to it, turning and running with it and looking to make something happen himself.

Haven't seen that anywhere near enough this season.

I realised after watching him play great last night that Lukaku is definately a confidence player. The team's under loads of pressure at the moment and he's used this to his advantage and just forgot about his price tag, forgot about the pressure and playing jarg all season, and just got on with playing the way we all know he can.

Hopefully this is a turning point for him and the whole team this season.

If he's gash on Saturday tho, file this under (swear word that rhymes with swollax)

As I said (slightly tongue-in-cheek) in the match thread, we should convert Lukaku into Yaya Toure MkII. In midfield, with less pressure to ensure a clean first touch, he can collect, turn and move with the ball as he did last night. It's the expectation to collect the ball perfectly, turn and score that's dragging him down. The guy moves effortlessly past players on the edge of the box, and whilst his shots were a bit weak last night, they all made the keeper work.

His best game this season last night. Outstanding.

Held it in brilliantly against two big centre backs. We need to see more of that instead of him trying to lay it off first time constantly.

The lad can't win, doesn't score or run around like a headless chicken for 90 minutes and he's lazy and a waste of money, etc. (a lot of closet racists who just want him to fail I think), he scores, gets in a few headers and he's boss all of a sudden. People need to get behind him everyweek and remember he's not a donkey, he's a slotter, who's natural game isn't running the channels and winning headers. If he did those things he'd still be at Chelsea

Wat.
