What's interesting about all of this is that apparently (per the BBC) Lukaku recorded the interview weeks ago and had discussions with Tuchel in between the interview and now, which settled him a bit.

I would imagine that Tuchel sat him anyway as an object lesson to everybody else (and to Rom) about keeping dirty laundry in-house.
