Lukaku replacement

Benteke or Ishak Belfordil. With the latter I'd like us to get someone like Adebayor on a short term contract to ease him into life at this legue. With the former we just need to get some money together and bring him here. He's having a poor season so the competition won't be serious and his price would've surely dropped.

Adebayor is on about 170 grand a week.

We can speculate all we want, at the end of the day its up to roberto and i trust him to pull another rabbit out the hat.

Id go one of these lids!

We'll have to look abroad if we want to bring in quality, imo. There's no way we would be able to pinch Remy from Newcastle, we just can't afford him.

that other Belgium lad looks very interesting. Belgiums are pretty ace all round.

Watching Lukaku of today got me thinking we are much more likely to keep hold of him than most give us credit for.

Whilst we are only a few points from Chelsea at the moment we are, in reality, light years behind them as a club and their ambitions. Over the next 2/3 years they will expect a title and a serious challenge to the Final at least of the Champions League.

And I just don't think Lukaku is in that class yet. His first touch is port and for a big man his presence up front is nothing like what the media make out.

Don't get me wrong he's the best centre forward we've had in 25 years and I'm sure he will improve but if Mourinho watches a tape of today's game and focuses on Lukaku's performance then I think we've a cracking chance of succeeding with a bid of say £20/£25m (should that be possible in any way............)

When was the last time Chelsea spent £15m+ on a young striker, who scores for fun in the Prem, and sold him for less than they bought him for?

Never is the answer I think.

But they didn't buy him with eyes towards a future profit. They bought him cos its very very likely he's gonna be one of the best.

How long thats going to take is the Question. It's not this season and very likely not the next one and he's got what? two year left on his contract?

So with two years left and if they decide to go a different route ( new superstar striker ) then the cost to buy him is gonna be way below most people estimations (20/30m).

That's my only point, if he's not for sale then we'll never get him, if he is then it'll be a lot cheaper than people think.

Thing is he was bought 2 managers ago.
A lot has happened at Chelsea since then, and no doubt their plans have changed somewhat. We don't know if Mourinho has a blank cheque to go out and get whoever he wants, or if even Chelsea have a spending limit.

One thing is certain: without making CL we would have zero chance of getting him. If we somehow could make it, there is a slim chance.

BTW, what do we make of Jay Rodriguez?

Lukaku I think depends on Baines leaving and us getting champions league.

Otherwise we may even have a chance for another loan next season as they have form with courtois (albeit in a different league) and he's doing well with us.

Unsure if anyone's already said it, but I wouldn't mind that Son from Bayern Leverkusen, doing well in Germany by all accounts and from what I've seen he looks good.
Still only 21 too.

No way Chelsea would allow Lukaku to come back on loan to Everton. Perhaps a Serie A team but not a PL competitor. Having said that, Jose really does not rate Everton that highly. He puts us in the same category as WBA and Stoke (ie a team Chelsea should have beat but didn't, because Chelsea had an off day). I quite enjoy some of his comments but he is also a bit of a plonker at times

Assuming we get Baines money (say 12.5M), I think we could afford Lukaku for about 10M more than that. If not Beteneke.

Paul Dickov is also out of contract and deserves a look-see.
