Lukaku finally proves there's more to his game than goals

credit to RM who has worked on all his weakness's

Some on here were complaining saying we should just concentrate on his strengths....funny same people are the RM haters.

I wonder if they will give RM credit

Sadly there'll always be the 'lazy' brigade to hate on him, they'll be whinging when hes gone though.

He gets a tonne of goals and assists, appreciate him while we've got him

He's alright. Could run a bit more for me and maybe start using some industrial strength adhesive on his socks so he doesn't risk controlling the ball into the propellers of passing aircraft.

Hang on, who wrote that?

I thought the only thing that mattered was if he was scoring goals and any other parts of his game that might have been poor and would have improved the team if he could do better at them weren't important?

Glad Boberto has turned him in to a better player. Shame we concede 2 or 3 a game now so Rom's contributions count for less. Be nice if he started coaching defending set pieces and that whole palava so we had a bit of consistent form.

I'd love to have the feeling of "can't wait to see Rom today", the way that I did when we had Rooney.

The reality is that I watch him in the first 10 minutes to see "what mood is he in". Its great like what we seen in the derby, just not great in the games where everything seems an effort.

If he adds consistency and 100% effort to his game he can be one of the best, without that he is a feast or famine player.

As the article says he has improved as our style of play has changed and looks better with the right player next to him but he still looks much more effective when we are counter attacking and the ball can be played in front of him. Is it fair to think the midfield can sort this out when many games at home won't provide an opportunity to play that way. I like this articles optimism but despite some improvement last season's issues remain for Rom and the team. It's not that we need to play to his strengths when chasing the game at home, it just may not be possible. We need smarter runs off the ball, tighter control around the area as well as much more effective setpieces. If not from Rom then from elsewhere
